Our sixth-grade class took a field trip to Manhattan: twenty-nine mental-case kids and two teachers on a yellow school bus(that sorta smells), heading to the Metropolitan Museum to look at Ancient Greek and Roman stuff.

I've been to the museum plenty of times. Not because I've been to the museum more times than I could count( I always find it fascinating and there's always something new there) and not because looking at old-fashioned art is boring. I love Greek and Roman mythology! I pretty much grew up in the stories of Greek myths and Roman heroes. It's boring, because I memorized everything to do with Greek and Roman mythology. Every Greek and Roman hero, how they got famous, each and every god(both major and minor). Maybe that is why Latin class and lucky for me, Mr. Bruner was leading the trip.

Mr.Brunner was this middle aged guy in a motorized wheelchair. He had thinning hair and a scruffy beard and a frayed tweed jacket, which for some reason always smelled like coffee. He's a pretty cool teacher. He told stories and jokes and let us play games in class. He also had this seriously cool collection of Roman armor and weapons. Another reason I liked Latin class.

I pulled out and turned to the window. I got a whole row to myself. I'm consider a "freak" even since I accidentally let the frogs out in biology and they cause a lot of chaos. I wasn't even close to the cage! I was just talking about the poor animals being freed and the cage door magically opened. I was naturally blame for two reasons. One- my love for animals and two- I was blamed for what happened the week before: putting tadpoles in the punch at the PTA meeting.

I looked over my seat to see in the back row my roommate, Kenna Miller- a preppy, super upbeat cheerleader type who was super popular and was flirting with her 'boyfriend', Mitchell Reyes- a jock/ popular type and next to him was his best friend- a shy, quiet boy named Laurence Gaines( son of software tycoon Hayden Gaines) and I had a tiny crush on Laurence. I looked away because I could see Laurence looking straight at me.

From my right, I could see Grover getting hit in the back of the head with chunks of peanut butter-and-ketchup sandwich by Nancy Bobofit, a freckly, redhead kleptomaniac girl who is like Percy's enemy and helping her was my enemy, Monica Reeds-The oldest child of the rich Reed family company and always rubs it in that her family comes from "new money"(She's just jealous that my family is more respected more than hers. And I'm pretty sure we're related by marriage or something) I could see Percy was getting angry. I could easily tell why.

Grover is mine and Percy's best friend and is a easy target to Nancy and Monica. He is scrawny, he cries when he is frustrated, and must have been held back several grades, he's the only sixth grader with acne and the start of a whispy beard on his chin. Plus, Grover was crippled. He had some muscular disease in his legs which explains his funny walk. I believe it's a total lie because I've seen him run like his pants were on fire on enchilada day in the cafeteria. Anyway, Percy seemed to be getting angry and Grover was holding back. "Percy, you're gonna get in more trouble," I mouthed toward him as he slouched back into his seat. I gave him a small smile and gave him a 'just grin and bear it' smile look and Percy gave me a dramatic eye roll. Little did I know, Percy trying to fight Nancy was the least of our problems...

Like I said earlier, Mr. Brunner was leading the museum tour. He was in the front, guiding us through the big echoey galleries, past lovely marble statues and glass cases full of really old and awesome black-and-orange pottery. I was also in awe that this all had survived for two, three hundred years. He had us all gather around a thirteen-foot tall stone column with a big Sphinx and was telling us how it was a grave marker,a stele, for a girl about our age. He also told us about the carvings on the sides.

Me, being the usual teacher's pet, was doing my best to listen but it was hard since everyone else was talking, and every time me and Percy told them to shut up, the other teacher chaperone, Mrs.Dodds, would give us the evil eyes.
