Summary
Who said folktales couldn't be about tails?

No one right?

'Folktails' is a fictional story based in the 19th century in Nigeria. Far away from other villages, standing isolated is Zoro. Its people are convinced that although there are other existential places outside of their village, there is no need for any contact. They remain hidden, assuring themselves that they are right by staying independent of the vile, ever changing world.

Under the reign of Eze Anozie the village is peaceful, but there are plots to take over the throne. Rumours spread about the king's inability to conceive a son even with three wives and his refusal to take another wife as a proof that he doesn't care about the wishes of the people. Conspiracies and ploys are brewed under the nose of the Eze by his most trusted officials.

Plot
Ikenna is in love with the Chief's daughter, but he knows that he is not deemed worthy enough to become her husband. It hurts him that the love of his life is so close, but yet so far. It does not help that he is an orphan with no family relatives or anyone to rely on.

His hardwork is the only thing he can count on and is what places him above his peers and most people in the village. To many, he is seen as a courageous man and is very respected.

Things take another turn when a tragedy strikes. Ikenna finds himself heartbroken and torn apart. Two years later, he meets her. She is the only one who understands his struggles and fears and makes an effort to make him feel less lonely.

Ikenna concludes that he has found a wife because he knows no one else can connect to him emotionally as she can. He realises that he cannot love anyone else but her. He however doesn't know that she is of the waters. By the time he's sure of it, it is time for her to leave.

A/N:
This book to be historically accurate is supposed to be written in the Igbo language. It however isn't, as the reason for writing which is for others to read will lose most of its meaning. Words that are seen as important or having a deep meaning may be left in Igbo, but other than that the book will be written in English.

The events that take place in this book are not related to real life events or based on actual people. The book however however draws its storylines from different folktales that have been told for many generations. Traditions and beliefs will be similar to that of the Nigerian Igbo people, but will not be accurate as there will be a great deal of alterations and changes.

P.S.: The goal of this book is not to present historically accurate information, but rather to show presumably a glimpse into the lives of people who lived in the past and a story which is all fictional.
