Ohm's eyes narrowed and every breath he made came out as a cloud of condensation, even through the fabric of his red sock. Bat Owl and Rabid Raccoon returned the cold stare and reciprocated the silence. Satt and Max froze still, unsure of what to do. They usually looked to Ohm in times of confusion, given that this was all his plan, but seeing the state he was in now, they were left without guidance. The silence was slowly interrupted by the sound of footsteps and what sounded like a pair of them coming up a flight of stairs. Max's eyes scanned the rooftop. They found the roof door. It took a moment for things to click, but once they did, he made a dash towards the it, followed by Satt. They pushed the door back just as Paper Bag Man had turned the knob and pushed. Paper Bag Man readied his right shoulder and began to ram the door, giving the combined strength of Satt and Max a run for their money.
"Ohm!" Max screamed, earning a slight amount of attention from his friend. "We could barely take one, we can't do three! We have to go!"
Ohm's gaze turned back to Bat Owl and Rabid Raccoon. "Playing superheroes?" He asked with a flat voice. "You didn't invite me?"
"Playing villain?" Bat Owl mocked. "That's all the invitation we needed."
"Villain?" Ohm questioned, his voice hinted with just the slighted irritation. "No, no, no. I'm the good guy."
Paper Bag Man stepped back with all his strength and rammed the door again. It was hard enough to knock Max off the door and down to the ground. He scrambled up and bawled his gloved fist. "Fuck it." He mumbled as he sped towards the door and punched the crease where the door and frame met. A thick block of ice formed and proved to be stronger than both himself and Satt. Paper Bag Man's ramming of the door was now rendered useless. Max then began towards Rabid Raccoon in a full sprint. Catching the hero off guard, he punched Rabid Raccoon, forming a solid block of ice on his chest while also knocking him back and off his feet.
Bat Owl, distracted by the attack on his companion, took no notice as Ohm charged towards him and tackled him to the ground. The both scrambled to their feet as fast as they could. Ohm and Max simply shared a look and, with that, they both began a barrage of attacks on Bat Owl. Some of them were dodged, some countered, but very few of them stuck. They were not dealing with a novice. Bat Owl and his entire team, when not blinded by rage or determination, displayed techniques and tactics that no doubt made them unstoppable.
When Rabid Raccoon recovered he joined the fight. Max and Ohm were overwhelmed and it was beginning to become clear that Max had been right-- they could barely take on one of them. Anymore than that would be ludicrous.
They were starting to lose and, still, they had no idea how they would get off this rooftop. A million thoughts started to run through Ohm's head. Thoughts of panic. Bat Owl knocked him to the ground, face first. He lifted his head, his eyes drawn to the bright night sky, letting them linger as if the sky had all the answers, and for the first time since this train wreck of a plan had started, he was right.
Slowly, the sound of helicopter blades cutting through the thick wind increased in volume until the helicopter became clear. Inside, three IAA agents were, each with their eyes red. Beside this helicopter, four others spawned with variable amounts of agents, all with red eyes.
The plan had worked.
In the middle of the confusion, Max took Rabid Raccoon by his left arm, pulling it down to the ground. He then took his fist and struck it with all the power and energy he had left, freezing the hero's arm to the platform.
"Satt, go!" He screamed to his friend. Satt did not hesitate and Max followed closely behind. As the agents in the surrounding helicopters loaded and cocked back their guns, Satt jumped off the roof, as high as he could, towards the nearest helicopter. The hand of one of the IAA agents reached out and caught him along the length of his arm and pulled him inside. The same act was repeated by Max.
The two turned back to the roof, expecting to see Ohm close behind, but the exact opposite was true. As Bat Owl chipped away at the ice holding Rabid Raccoon's arm to the ground, Ohm was in a full sprint towards the two.
"Ohm!" Both Satt and Max called out in unison. Ohm didn't seem to hear them. Bat Owl managed to free Rabid Raccoon just as the IAA agents began to open fire. They ran in the oppsite direction, towards the edge of the roof followed closely by Ohm. Bat Owl led the two, but as the edge of the roof jumped out at him, he began to slow down, hesitant to jump. He stopped and turned, but instead of joining him, Rabid Raccoon tackled him off the roof and the two plummeted off the building.
Something had gotten into the Maskedgamer. Something terrifyingly desensitized and determined. The edge of a building, regardless of height, did not intimidate him. There was no hesitation. Instead, there was grace. He stepped off the edge of the roof as if he were sure there was a still ground to cover. He dove, face first, increasing his velocity and catching up to the falling heroes in seconds. Bat Owl and Rabid Raccoon, in their fall, rotated constantly. Each time one of them was positioned to look up into the sky, Ohm was drastically closer than he was during their last rotation. Both of them alternated screaming and bouts of panic in these moments.
Ohm reached into his back pocket and readied the red handgun to shoot at the pair. As he prepared to pull the trigger, a pair of arms wrapped around his waist and started pulling him back up the building, letting the heroes get further and further away. He quickly turned his head to find Satt, a bungee chord wrapped around his waist, smiling at him. Back in the helicopter, Max and two IAA agents held the bungee chord tightly, his feet on either side of the helicopter door opening, trying to keep himself from falling.
Ohm looked back down, a feeling of anger and defeat washing over him as the heroes were no longer in sight.
