After about 10 minutes of us sitting like that she withdrawed from me. “Thanks Lou. That actually helped. She opened a drawer in her desk and found some paper tisues. She swept away the tears from her face and blowed her nose. She closed her eys and took a deep breath, then she opened them again and her gaze met mine. “ So what are you actually doing here, Lou? Why did you come home?”, she asked me.
Then it was my time to start crying. My turn to get a trickling stream in the face. In a hurry she found a new tisue for me from her desk and handed it to me. I dried away my tears too. “You are not the only one to be dumped, you know,” I said. She gasped. “Nooo! Has Eleanor dumped you?” I nodded. “But...but why did she do that?”
I told Lottie everything about Eleanor and me breaking up. Of all people I knew she would understand best.
We were so caught in the conversation that we didn't notice mom knocking on the door. Since none of use cared to open, as she later put it, she opened the door herself and found both og her children lieing in bed and talking quietly. “Is this where you were, Lou? I was just gonna tell both of you that dinner's done in five minutes.” Lottie and I shared a look after mom left. “We didn't even notice her knocking!” Lottie said while laughing. I nodded. “Should we go?” I said. She nodded too and then we did.It was a nice dinner. Coming home was a good idea.
I was sitting by my desk writing a e-mail to Harry when my phone rang. “Hello?” I anwsered. “Sup Lou?”, the voice of my childhood best friend said. “I talked to your mother some days ago. It was sad to hear about Eleanor.” “Yeah....” “Have you gotten home yet?” “Yeah, I'm actually sitting in my old bedroom while talking.” “Oh, how great! Care to go out and do something tomorrow?” “Yeah, sure. Do what exactly?” I asked. I had to admit I wasn't so excited about it, but guessed I had to start somewhere to get moving. “I have no idea at all,” she said and started laughing. I laughed too. This was our thing, mine and Emely's, we made fun of all our wrongs, funny episodes and weird comments. I had to admit I had missed her. Even though Eleanor never said, I knew she didn't like me hanging out with Emely that much so I hadn't. We often talked over phone and stuff, but didn't really hang out togheter much. I think Emely understood, but she was my best girl friend even though.“I'll be at your place around half past 11 tomorrow,” I said after finishing laughing. “Cool, see you then. I have really missed this, so excit. Bye!”
