I cannot tell you. I wouldn't be able to express this in just mere words, regardless of how much I try.
I know my actions since the past hour somehow keyed me out as a teen with an eye on self-annihilation. Oh yes, the glorious sneak out!
But now the only thing I wanted to do was to live.
The blue light was still blocked out from my view, and the silhouette of the figure approached me step by step.
I was frozen in the spot. Brain dead. It felt like one of those haunted house rides where just closing your eyes blocked out all the scary things happening around you.
This was the real haunted house and closing your eyes will do a shit.
Flee was what I did. The usual. I fled. I quickly retraced my way back, in full speed.
I am going to fight till the end. I cannot give up. Heck no!
At that point of time, my hands suddenly met with something cold. Something terrifyingly cold. I jerked it off whatever it was the instant it had touched me. Thank you reflexes.
I shudder thinking what it may have been, but I had this boding feeling that those might have been his hands because what else could it be? It was tugging me backwards. I ran , and I just ran. I was running through the long cut to my house. I flung my sandals out my feet. I had to run fast.
I see why physical education is a compulsory subject and you require it the most in this town.
The sound of my footsteps echoed through the locality. The silence was deadening.
All you people sleeping in your houses!
Was he still behind me? Should I stop? Beads of sweat trickled down my face as I ran. My heartbeat started becoming irregular, not because of this unplanned nightly workout but out of sheer fright.
Fear kills you more than death. The saying is rank on unflawed.
My throat was completely parched and I gulped in a large lump that had formed. I did not wait to stop to look behind me. Calling for help and ringing their doorbells was a bad idea because by the time they would have opened their doors , I would be in my grave preparing for my next reincarnation.
I ran for some more minutes. My lungs were about to burst in pain. I took the shortcut to the woods. It was a small acre of forest land comprising of canopies and roots.
It was a pretty sight in the morning. PS In the morning .The only thing that illuminated the forest land was...the moonlight. I didn't have the time to carry out a mental debate. I knew I was being followed. He could be a spirit, a ghost or whatever, he didn't need legs to come after me!
The sound of the insects in the forest were a bad background music. It sounded like they wanted to speed up my incoming death. Why did I leave her house and come here again? Am I a masochist for real?
I was running like an insane right now, tripping over the roots. God.. The last thing I needed were the hoots of an owl. The entire panorama looked like a clip out of a horror movie. Darkness enveloped everything, just everything. And I nailed it. Like I always did. I fell. I fell hard on my front. My velocity did not help in minimizing the cuts.
First, I was out of breath, so after I fell, it felt like bliss for an instant and then the pricking pain took over my senses and I howled out in pain like the retard I was. Zapping back to reality, I quickly sat up and dragged my knee up close to inspect the cut. My eyes bulged out of their sockets. Streams of blood rolled out my knees in all directions.
OK, if that thing was a vampire then I should be running for my life right now.
I could hear it. Something was crumbling. He was coming. The sounds of dry leaves being crushed upon pressure. My eyes appallingly grew wide in fear and I looked everywhere for the root of the sound. The treetops that surrounded me chipped off an ominous feeling and the clouds quickened the pace of their journey.
After a lot of tugs and scrambles, I finally managed to drag myself out of the forest, unharmed.
Tears of joy escaped my eyes when the familiar street of my house met my sight.
A bit more, I solaced myself.
I was jogging, out of breath towards the far end of the street, that was my house.
A loud rumble echoed behind. Followed by more. My blood froze. Nevertheless, I hastened my pace. After the dozens of trials I couldn't ignore the voice that was growing louder every second. The stillness of the surrounding rubbed off an intense minatory feeling in me. Running along the way, I turned to look back, not noticing the car that had been speeding itself up in front of me.
It had been too late before I turned to face my front again. My reaction time failed me and I fell flat on the road in a dangled heap of mass.
