Flashes of red and blue showered the house, being the only light source other than the slip of a moon in the sky. Not even a star in sight to join it.

Police. Ambulance. All parked outside an old house, the paint chipped off after years of rain, snow, etc. Officers dragged the struggling people from the house. Four in total, two men and two women. One of the women were weeping, for a reason I didn't know. Maybe because she'd finally been caught.

We've finally found them. The serial kidnappers. Over the past months, children had been scooped up and vanished. Plucked off streets, playgrounds, back yards, even school grounds. They were sick, twisted people. And now we finally caught them.

"Clear the rooms."

I went in with my team another station's officers made sure there was no one of threat in the house. We searched. The house appeared.. Normal. Kitchen, dining room, living room, pantries, even a second floor with bedrooms. There was food in the fridge, the TV in the living room was on playing some kind of cooking show. I was almost afraid this was the wrong house. Until one of my men found a doorway leading to a basement area.

"Allison.. Come look at this," Katy, or Officer Thompson, my partner, called me over to the doorway. It seemed like a normal basement. A staircase with a light switch on the inner wall.

We called backup Officers with us, guns drawn as we slowly traveled down the stairs, lights switched on so we could see. We were immediately met with another door. I came in front, gently pushing the door open before finding an open space. It looked like a.. Living room? A couch with a TV and a small game console underneath it with controllers scattered with the boxes of game CDs in a similar disarray. Another room openly connected, a dining table with multiple chairs surrounding it.

If that wasn't enough, there was a hallway breaking off from the living room. While some Officers stayed to check these rooms over, me, my partner, and some others followed down the hall. We quickly came across doors. They came in pairs, across from each other before another pair came further down. Guns raised, we opened the first door we walked up to. Two children jumped at the sight of us.

The room they were in were suspiciously.. Average. Like any kid's bedroom, the beds had themed sheets and toys piled in the corner. It was two boys, one clearly older than the other, but they were definitely brothers. The younger kid froze, the older jumping out of bed and moving over to his brother's side.

We clearly lowered our guns, my partner telling the Officers in the main rooms to alert the others of our discovery. I come in to talk to the children.

"Hey.." I tuck my gun away, hands slightly raised with my palms facing upwards. They didn't look any less fearful. I didn't blame them. The oldest was no more than 8, maybe 7 years. I also couldn't imagine what they've gone through. "Hey, it's okay. We're here to help. What're your names?"

The little boy, no more than 5, started crying. I cringed a little. The older stared at me, before his shaky voice replied. "Are you going to take us away..?"

Confused a little, I said, "No, no no, we're here to take you home!"

The little boy wailed. Officers piled into the room, wrapping the older boy in a sheet and leading him out. He was silent, staring at the ground. The younger shrieked, squirming and kicking as an officer wrapped him as well and tried his best to hold him securely as they rushed him out.

The officers on my team had traveled to the other room, finding a girl around the age of ten. She fought a lot more than you'd expect for a kid being rescued. She screamed and bit the officer trying to wrap the sheet around her, hollering for them to leave her alone.
