Dark Curse

In the night of darkness, came a silhouette of a man who's walking slowly, entering the dark cave. I was shocked to see a person entering my cave. A lone tear escaped my eyes.

That man shouldn't be here.

What should I do? There's another person whose about to die. Keeping myself away from the world, trying to hide my presence to anyone. The true existence of my humanity had been abandoned from the moment I was born.

Someone who is worthy of this curse shouldn't be me. It shouldn't be me. What did I do to get this curse? Or should I ask, what did my mother do for her last born to take the curse?

I was isolated from the outside world. Ever since I was born, I haven't seen the light coming from the sun. I was chained inside this dark cave. Yes, chained. My mother is the only one who can come near me, touch me and see me. Mom taught me everything she knows about the outside world. She showed me videos and pictures of it. But did those deeds lessen her sins?

As seconds pass by, the shadow disappeared. And his body appeared in front of me. In between, a lamplight that's letting me see in this dark place.

Eyes widened, tears falling down and both hands covering my mouth. I looked at him, shocked.

"Who are you? Look away! Y-you shouldn't be here!" I said with my voice shaking. Afraid that I may be the cause of his death!

"W-wait miss.. why are you alone here?" He said. In his eyes, the worry is visible. He looked at the chain that's connecting on my left hand. Why would a stranger like him worry about me?

I looked at him, His eyes were gray. He's carrying his bag, while holding a stick, probably for a defense. His face seems something unreal. His face is perfection. Is this what mom told me? handsome? He is wearing a black jacket and a gray scarf.

His hand tried reaching for my face but I avoided it. How come he can look at me like this without feeling the pain? He's even looking at me straight in the eye!

"P-please, leave this place!" I shouted while walking backward, trying not to let him go near me. Until I cannot move anymore because of the chain.

My older brother tried going inside this cave, to see me. To comfort me. That's the first time I saw a boy. Jayson, my older brother, saw me and then he shouted because of the pain that he is feeling. His screams were echoing inside the cave. It frightened me. Seeing a person die in front of me, especially, he's my brother. It hurts. The only thing I could do is cry.

I cried and cried until mom went to the cave to give me food. She saw Jayson, lying beside me, breathless. She, of course, cried. She has warned my siblings before. However, Jayson didn't believe in mom's words. That's why he came to see me.

The man was about to touch me, but I quickly moved away. "Don't look at me or you'll die!" He flinched at my shout.

"What?" His brows met. He looked at me, confused. I'm shocked. Shouldn't he be screaming in pain now? Jayson felt the pain inside his body when his eyes caught me. The next thing I knew, Jayson was lying down on the ground, eyes were closed and he is not breathing anymore.

Mom said, anyone who has seen me, will suffer from pain and die after. Why isn't this man suffering? Did she lie to me?

I looked straight into the man's eyes, "You'll die. Now leave." I walked away to him, heading to my wooden bed. My chain is long, so I can go to bed. But it is not long enough to reach the opening of the cave.
