°a year later
The servers sit plates and drinks in front of the customers at eight o'clock. It's at least twenty guest waiting for the event to happen. Tonight is all about Yelena and her accomplishments. For this event all she wanted was some real and honest support. No press. Her team had reserved the rooftop bar section at Frolik Kitchen + Cocktails. Family and friends are all here to celebrate her and show support. Her close friends and family knows that it's been a rough year for her. They were surprised that she could even finish the book like she did. The crew sets up two easels near the bar, sitting the covered cardboard pieces on them. Yelena walks around and converses with a few people. She would be speaking soon and she was trying to get rid of the nervousness. This is the first time that she'd be introducing her new book. Would they love it was the question. After talking to her parents, Yelena travels over to the table where her friends sit. Pulling the empty seat back, she sits down and downs her wine. She sits the empty glass on the table, swallowing the wine in a gulp.
"You nervous?" Cherokee questions, forking some food in her mouth.
"A little. What if you guys don't like it?" Yelena questions, looking around at everyone at the table. They all give her their attention as they chew their food. This was their first time seeing her like this. Her looks appeared to be well grounded, but on the inside she was an emotional wreck. However, Milyah and Cherokee were going to help her through this. No matter what.
"We'll love it Lena, and if some people don't who cares. You have way more people for you than against you." Milyah assures her while caressing her shoulder.
"You're right. I'm overreacting." Yelena says while shaking her head.
"Yes you are. This food is bomb by the way." Cherokee says causing Yelena to laugh lightly.
"That's the only reason you and Trybe even came." Yelena teases causing them all to laugh.
"Not uh sis I'm here to support. This bake cheese and flat bread is hitting though. You want your serving?" Trybe questions.
"I already ate." Yelena smiles as Ms. Aniston taps a glass and grabs everyone's attention. The crowd quiets down as some people shush others. Once it's dead silent, Aniston sits the glass and butter knife on the bar behind her.
"Can I have everyone's attention please! I apologize for the inconvenience of us not having a microphone. Hopefully you'll be able to hear Yelena when she gets up here. We invited you all here tonight to present a new book. This is different from how I do business, but Yelena wanted to share this book with you guys personally. Usually after the critics read it and give good feed back, we stock shelves and begin selling the novels. However, since this one was more personal she wanted your honest opinion. No promo and no critics. So without further or do, please give a warm welcome to Yelena Bryant." Ms. Aniston smiles and applauds as the crowd applauds and some whistle. Yelena stands to her feet with a small grin and heads to the front. When she reaches where Aniston stands they hug and Aniston gives her the floor. As the applauds slowly die down Yelena looks over the small crowd. It wasn't big but it meant a lot that they were there.
