Ginger had just gotten out of the shower when she heard her cell ringing from downstairs. Fuck my life she thought to herself. She bolted down the stairs and yanked her phone from the coffee table, fixing her towel while she answered.
"Ashton? What's up?" She asked, shocked since she hadn't heard from him in days.
"Ginger? Could you come pick me up?" He choked out "I miss you" His voice sounded weak and choppy as if he had a terrible cold and a sore throat. She collected her thoughts and responded
"Yeah. Yeah I can come get you" She began pullling clothes out of drawers and throwing them on
"Thanks, Ginge. I appreciate it" He coughed. Warning bells made themselves known in Ginger's head. There was something wrong. She didn't know what it was, but she knew it was something, something big at that. Ashton was in some sort of trouble.
"I'll be there soon, Ash. I promise." She assured as she pulled a shirt on to go with her leggings.
"Okay. I love you" He said quietly. Ginger smiled sadly at the sound of her friend's voice.
"I love you too, Ash. And Ashton?"
"Yeah, Ginger?"
"I'd love you if you were fat too. Or if you were short, or had a weird voice or if you couldn't play the drums to save your life. Just remember that. I love you no matter what." With that she hung up the phone. Ashton was shocked at the words he'd just heard. How did she know? She couldn't haveknown. Was she saying he was fat as well? What if she was? What would he do if his very best friend in the entire world thought he was fat as well? He couldn't take that kind of rejection. He shuffled into the bathroom and looked in the mirror. Even though his cheeks seemed hollow and sunken in, he saw sagging cheeks and several chins to look after. He saw the largest image he could conjur up, and it killed him to think that Ginger would see him like he was. He looked awful. He was hideous. Fat. Useless. Awful. All the things Vanessa said were true. H knew it was true. He could tell by the reflection in the mirror. He wasn't worth anyone's time. Expecially not Ginger's. What was the point if he wasn't worth the time and large ammount of space? There was none. Vanessa was right. She was so completely right.
