Annabeth: Adopted by The Avengers

Chapter 2: family

I flung the door open sad and depressed. I just got back from a long day of school but that wasn't the reason why I was upset. " what's up with you? " ask Tony looking at the door to make sure I didn't break it.

  "we have to do a family tree in school but i know anything about my family but the fact that they are dead! " I said upset and angry.

Tony sat o. his black leathered couch and thought for a while. " you can always do it on one of us We're like your family" he said looking down at his magazine that had a picture of a car on it.

" I know that, but while the teacher was talking about the assignment it got me thinking, I don't know anything about where I came from and you guys haven't told me anything thing about the day you found me or how my parents died " I said just as Steve and Thor walked into the room.

" what are you guys talking about? " ask Steve noticing my sad face.

" she want to know how her parents died and the night shield found her " said Tony still reading through the magazine he held in his hands.

I looked at Steve who looked like he didn't want to tell me. " fine " he said as he sat down on the couch. Tony put down the magazine as if he were interested on how I would react after Steve told me about the day my parents died and I was adopted into shield.

Just as Steve got ready to tell me, Natasha and Clint came barging threw the door smiling until they saw my annoyed face. " did we interrupt something? " ask Natasha looking strait into my eyes.

" yes! " I said in a slightly angry but annoyed tone.

" I was just about to tell her about they day shield adopted her and how her parents died " Steve said " you should join us " he said as he slide over a bit to make room. Natasha walked over and sat down between Me and Steve while Clint sat down beside me. Then they began their story about the day they found me and as they talked I noticed that they all had the same sad voice that told me that this was a day they wouldn't forget.

14 years ago

It was a cold frosty night in New York. None of the avengers lived in stark tower and only Natasha and Clint where the only ones who lived at shield. They all rarely talked to each other and when they did see each other it was for a mission or a battle. This night though they were called in by Nick Fury for a special mission. They had to go to Greenland to save to shield two agents, a man and his wife who went missing.

They got in the jet a rushed off to Greenland. The coordinates led them to a forest that was everything but green. Snow covered everything fro leaves onTree to the grass on the ground. The avengers took a step out of the jet and into the snowy ground.

They walked around not knowing we're to look for the missing agents. They soon saw in the distance a blue large car with the two doors in the front wide open. The windows were covered with white frost and the top of the car had snow on it. They walked towards it and examined the car inside and out.

Inside Tony found a map in The front seat of the car. Clint looked in the back trunk and found a bunch if luggage that looked like it some one looked threw it and took stuff. Their were cloths every where like scarfs, boots, a few jackets, and pants. Then they all looked in the back seat and to their surprises they found a car seat but no baby.

They all were sad thinking of a child that was here freezing probably not even alive any more. Steve looked down to fine a stuffed white Teddy bear on the ground blending in with the snow. Then they saw foot tracks and had hope that the people where still alive.

They follow the foot steps only to find a body laying in the white cold snow. They examined it, it was a female that looked like she was in her 20s and she was pale...pale as the snow and her lips were purple from the cold.

They could find the man or the baby anywhere. Then they heard a faint voice call for help. I looked around till they spotted someone sitting against a tree. They rushed over to the person and discovered it was a man. He wasn't wearing a jacket or a scarf. He wore nothing that could keep him warm and he was pale. He looked like a ghost and his lips we purple.

Then, we noticed in his arms their was  a pale baby wrapped in the mans only coat and scarf.

" let's get you up and back to shield " said Clint reaching over to help him.

" no " the man said in a soft cold voice " take my child, she is more important than me " he said as he reached over giving the child to Steve.

" we can still help you " said Clint reassuring.

" no you can't " he said in a sad weak voice" I can't feel my legs " he looked down and we all knew he their was something he wasn't telling us.

" what aren't you telling us ? " said Tony in a stern voice.

" I injected my daughter with a serum that changed half her DNA" the man said " I did it so she would have a chance to survive in this cold weather "  He said in a voice that got weaker.

" if half of her DNA is human than what is the other half? " Clint ask looking at the child in Steve's arms.

" she is part arctic wolf " he replied his voice fading. We all looked at him as he grew paler and he was barley moving.

We were all shocked that he made her part wolf and that's when we knew we had to get her out of here and get her to shield to get a test on her and see if the two different DNA mixed together okay.

Just as we were about to ask him for her name we noticed that he had stopped moving and there was no pulse. We took the two dead bodies back to shield for a burial. Steve still had the child I his arms. By the time we got back Nick Fury took the child to test her and see if the DNA mixed okay. The bodies were sent for a burial. The avengers walk to the testing room to see the young child was doing and she was looking happy as could be. We all felt sad though knowing that she would be an orphan but her smile mad us smile.

" she is a gorgeous looking baby " said Natasha admiring the girl.

The baby had pure soft white skin that was pale. Her eyes we a pretty blue and they match the color of the ocean. Two of her teeth on the top on the sides were sharp and her little nails were long. Nick fury then told us that she would be staying at shield so they could watch and see what happens to her as she grows up and see if she would develop any powers.

" she needs a name " said Nick leaving the decision to us. We all came up with the name Annabeth. She was going to be a special baby.

Present day

A tear came from their eyes as Steve and Natasha finished the story. I was shocked and sad yet happy that the avengers named me.

" you should probably go to bed " said Steve tired. I looked at the clock and it was almost 11:00 at night. I nodded and thanked them For telling me what happen to my parents. I headed up stairs and laid right down on my bed. I closed my eyes and thought about what it would have been like to grow up with my real parents, not knowing the avengers. I then thought about how happy I was with the life I had in New York and I thought about my family I had here. I loved this family and I wouldn't change it for the world.
