Hawaiian Vacation pt. 1

Before She

I was sitting on my bed reading when my alarm went off filling my room with the sound of soft chimes. I turned it off and switched over to my Soundtracks playlist, hitting shuffle. Music from Monsters Inc. played into the room as I got out of bed. I made my bed and grabbed the outfit I had set out yesterday on the chair in the corner and went down to the bathroom. I put my clothes on the shelf above the toilet we had put in and turned on the water. While it got warm I ran a brush through my hair and turned up the volume on my speaker as music from AVATAR played. I stripped out of my clothes and got into the steaming water. After washing my hair and shaving I got out and dried off quickly, wrapping my hair in another towel. After I got out I put in my contacts and gathered up the last minute toiletries into my bag, before going back upstairs. I sat on the floor and dried my hair before braiding it. I checked my suitcase over twice and finally closed it and set it by the door. I gathered up the things I wanted on the flight and put them into my dark green backpack. Snacks, empty water bottle, phone, charger and cord, laptop, books, headphones, lanyard, and a few other items went into the bag before it too was closed and put by the door. I glanced at the clock, 2:30. We had to be at the airport by 4:45, which meant we had to be at Brooke's house by 3:30. I stepped into the kitchen where Katie and Billy we're discussing the trip.
"Good morning Cam." Billy said tiredly.
"Morning."
"You all ready to go?" Katie asked.
"It's all by the door."
"Good, can you get the girls? I think they are still sleep." I nodded and went down the hall to Annie's room. Knocking on the door, I opened the door and looked over to her bed. Turned on her bedside lamp before shaking her gently. She opened her eyes and grumbled at me.
"Annie, wake up! We're going to Hawaii." She smiled sleepily before getting out of bed with an incoherent mumble. "Be ready to go soon, we are leaving for the Rock Your Hair house in 20 minutes." She started moving around her room faster and I left her room and turned on her light. I went into Hayley's room and turned on her lamp as well. She rolled over and looked at me confused. "Hayley, can I tell you a secret?" I asked quietly. She nodded sleepily. "We're going to Hawaii!! Come on! Come on!" Hayley smiled widely and got up. She was getting hints out of her dresser when she stopped and turned to me.
"Wait. That's not a secret." I laughed and she stared confused in her drowsiness.
"I know, Hayley. Get dressed we are leaving soon." She nodded and I headed back to the kitchen. About ten minutes later Hayley and Annie came out. We loaded our bags into the car and drove the 20 minutes to the Rock Your Hair house. Hayley has fallen back asleep and Annie looked like she was about to nod off. I touched Annie's knee and she looked up, smiling when she realized she arrived. Billy parked and we got out. I went to Hayley's side and picked her up carrying her into the house. Nicole smiled at us said hello. Rush was sitting at the kitchen counter staring off into space. Annie walked over to him and sat next to him. I walked by him and gave him a high five before going into the living room and setting Hayley on the couch.
"Brooke's upstairs, probably still asleep."
"I'll go get her." I said to Nicole before walking up the stairs quietly. As I neared Brooke's door, I couldn't hear any sound of movement and there wasn't a light coming from under the door. I opened her door slowly and creeped up to her bed. Brooke was laying on her side, snuggled into her pillow, very much asleep. Knowing I might get slapped or hit, I readied myself before jumping onto the bed and shook her shoulders. With a scream and a blind punch to the arm Brooke sat up quickly, wide awake. She stared at me with wide eyes as tried to hold in my laughter.
"You jerk!" She yelled hitting my shoulder. I laughed and leaned back onto my heels. She gave me a glare that had no real malice behind it, before shaking her head and rolling her eyes.
"Come on." I finally said, sliding off the bed and offering her a hand. "We get to go to Hawaii!!!" I sing. She takes my hand and gives me a hug.
"I can't wait." She says. She pulls out of the hug and goes to her dresser while I sit back on the edge of her bed. Tucking my legs under me, I watch as she picks out the clothes she wanted to wear and puts her hair up so she can shower. "Be out in a minute." She mumbles before closing the door. As the water runs on the other side of the door I grab her suitcase and bring it downstairs, putting it by the door. I talked with Nicole and Rush before helping them put all the bags in the car. As we got back inside, Brooke came down the stairs with her backpack on her shoulder. She set her backpack next to mine and we all went into the kitchen. The clock read 3:45.
"We have to go." I said nodding towards the clock. Billy glanced at the clock before agreeing. We all climbed into the car and headed towards the airport. We arrived as the clock read 4:25. We climbed out of the Uber van and got our bags from the back. I sling my backpack over my shoulder and wheeled my suitcase to the curb. Soon enough, everyone else had their bags and we headed into the airport. We stopped inside the doors so Billy could figure out what security checkpoint was closer to our gate. Looking over, Brooke stood blinking tiredly at the airport around us, looking only half conscious. I walked over to her and offered her my free hand as Billy started off again. She took it and together we headed towards the security line.
