Holloween Horror Nights

        Brooke's fingers were casually intwined with mine as we walked down the street of LA in the warm night air of early fall. Annie and Hayden were talking about the plans for tomorrow while Rush talked to Katie. Billy was using his phone for directions and Hailey skipped alongside Paige. Brooke joined some of the conversations and I found myself looking around LA capturing the simple things that made it so beautiful. We were going to meet up with Brooke's parents for dinner and then heading to Halloween Horror Nights. I felt a pull on my hand and Brooke pulled me towards her before I could run into a girl walking the other way. I gave her a smile and she squeezed my hand as we continued down the street. Finally we made our way to the restaurant and found our seats. Brooke and I sat next to each other with Hayden on my other side next to Annie. Rush was on the end of the table next to Brooke and everyone else sat on the other side of the table. We ordered burgers and laughed while we ate. During the entirety of dinner Brooke and I touched at the knee and foot under the table. Something inside me knew I couldn't pursue it and that it wouldn't last due to us rarely being here in LA. Dinner came to an end and we headed out to an Uber to head to the park. Paige, Brooke and I piled into the backseat as everyone loaded into the car and we were on our way. We arrived at Universal as the sun dipped below the horizon. We hopped out of the car and were immediately greeted by a whole bunch of people dressed up as Chucky. Instinctively I grabbed onto Brooke's hand and we walked together. We made it through the first section without much trouble and were debating what to do when someone dressed in mostly black jumped out at us and almost everyone screamed. I jumped but didn't scream and Brooke let out a squeak and a mumbled, "oh my god." I gripped her hand a little tighter and she glanced over at me. I flashed a small smile at her before we started off towards the first attraction we were going to do.
    Brooke and I were leaning against each other while we headed back towards the exit. It had gotten cold and we were done being scared out of our wits. The two cars arrived and Brooke and I shared a long hug before she left with her family and I got into the car with mine. We would see them soon enough, but I knew it would feel like forever.
