"Ugh what am I gonna do? I'm gonna fail my Korean class at school and I'm gonna have a big F for the report card." You groaned as you complained to your friend during lunch.
"Just ask your teacher." She recommended.
"She hates me. I hate her." You said rolling your eyes.
"Well?! That's not gonna do you any good is it?! You gotta not hate her! She's only doing her job!"
"I'm pretty sure she cusses at me in Korean when I'm not looking."
"But she's one of the nicest teachers in school!! I like her!"
"Well that's because you've never had her, now seriously, give me any other idea that involves me passing her class without talking to her!"
Your friend sighed and thought for a minute before her eyes lit up from an idea.
"Get a study buddy!!" She beamed suddenly.
You immediately shook your head to disagree, "Okay, no. Nobody in class likes me. That's already off the table."
"Alright well, get a study buddy from the country instead!"
You sat up from resting your head on the table and look at her with curiosity.
"Okay, go ahead I'm listening." You told her.
She nodded, "Okay so, my teacher in Spanish is getting us all pen pals from different Spanish speaking countries that we can use our skills with and at the same time, help them with their English skills! It's a win-win for everyone!" She explained and you began to think on it.
"You want me to meet someone in Korea and get them to help me with my korean so I can pass my class? And help them with their English?"
"Exactly! It's a lot of fun! My teacher did it with emails with us but c'mon! We're more high tech than that! Make an internet friend on a messenger or something."
"Well, it doesn't sound like a bad idea I guess. I mean, I'm obviously not learning in class so maybe some real time conversation might help?"
"Yup! So, go for it!"
The bell rung, signaling for the final period of the day and you and your friend got up from the cafeteria table and headed your separate ways to the next class.
You couldn't help but smile with the genius idea your friend pitched to you and you decided to try it out after school when you went home.
