You downloaded the Kakao messenger as it was a recommended option for language exchange friends.

After you made an ID, you put yourself out there and commented under a post that helped people find English learning partners and Korean learning partners.

You decided to wait awhile since you weren't sure of the time zone at the moment in Korea so you put your phone down and went downstairs to watch some Netflix on the living room TV.

Your Korean teacher wanted everyone to watch a K-drama for homework and pick up some phrases to bring back to class.

As much as you didn't really have interest for dramas, you found a pretty good one that surpassed your likes.

As you pressed the play button on your remote to play the next episode, your phone went off, signaling a notification.

You picked it up as the intro played and your eyes widened when you saw a notification from a reply to your comment under the post.

Cuteddana: Hi! ^^ my Kakao ID is YS0017 if you want to learn together!

You immediately pause the show and take time to add the user's Kakao and hit them up with a text.

Me: Uhhh hi! I'm Starlightwish and you hit me back with your Kakao

You figured it would probably take the person awhile to reply back so you hit play on the show.

Just after the opening finished, you had to pause the show again as your phone made a cute sound from the Kakao app.

따나: wow!! You are fast!! 😮

따나: I hit you?! ㅠㅠ sorry

You chuckled at the person's innocence and texted back.

Me: Oh it's an expression! You didn't literally hit me. 😂 I just meant that you sent me your Kakao ID.

따나: ahhh~ I understand!

따나: I can tell, you are fun ^^

Me: Haha I guess. You too 😊

Me: So, what should I call you? Your user on Kakao reads as ddana??

따나: 😂 that is my nickname. My name is 윤산하.

Me: Yoon Sanha?

따나: You can read hangeul!! Nice!!! You can call me Sanha or Ddana 😆

Me: Woah woah woah I can read, doesn't mean I understand what I read. It's my dumb Korean teacher's job at school to teach me comprehension -.-

Me: Sorry, but idk what you said after Nice...

따나: It's Okay! You are very good at hangeul! I asked you what your name is ^^

Me: Ohhh gotcha. I'm Alexa 😊 i think she taught us how to reply back to that...

Me: 제 이름은 아렉사예요

따나: Yes!~

Me: Whew, I paid attention that day I guess 😂

Me: So, heres the deal Sanha. I'm failing Korean class and I really can't afford having a bad grade on my report card. So, I'm gonna have to ask you to help me out understand what I'm learning in class, or maybe reteach it to me more simply lol.

따나: You are failing Korean?! 😧 nooo!!~

따나: Do not worry! Ddana will help you!!~~~ 😁

따나: I need help with my English. I might fail the class too hehe ^^;

Me: You read and write pretty well tbh Sanha.

따나: Oh thank you!! ^-^ but grammar can be confusing for me sometimes. Especially conjunctions!

Me: You mean, you're, it's, I'm, and etc?

따나: yeah!! I also need to build my vocabulary. Oh! And know when to be formal and informal.

Me: Well, lemme tell ya, it's much simpler in English. My teacher sometimes tells us there's like 3 different ways to say something formally in Korean or informally and it just gets so confusing. 🙄

따나: oh Alexa can I talk to you later? I am still in school ^^ I have to go now

Me: Ah ok good luck in school ✌️

따나: thanks!~~ I will send you a selca before I enter class 😆

Me: Selca?

따나:

Selca was a selfie, noted. You couldn't help but smile at how cute Sanha looked in his school uniform.

You also hoped you would improve in class because of him and maybe even he could improve with his as well.

A/n: as an FYI I'm not the most fluent in korean so if there's like any errors with anything from here on out, let me know! I will happily fix them to make the story grammar more accurate lol. And I'm also aware maybe some people can't read hangeul so I've attempted to put translations within dialogue so I hope it doesn't look weird and looks more helpful lol.
