It was settled, Quinn was in love.
And not the irrational and spontaneous love that was sung about in pop songs, not infatuation because he's just attractive...no. It was because James Potter was her fate, and she knew that now.
Although they hadn't kept to their word, and still mostly hung out in secret, there was the odd conversation in between classes or at dinner that really made their friends freak out. After they would speak they were bombarded with dramatic questions, would that friendship be the downfall of their quidditch team?
And the answer was no, obviously. It really wasn't a big deal.
It wasn't a big deal when they talked, it wasn't a big deal when they hugged...
and it definitely wasn't a big deal when they were making out in a locked broom closet next to the gryffindor common room.
Oh.
With her fingers laced through his dark curls and his arms comfortably wrapped round her waist as she sat on his lap they had forgotten all about the fact that they really shouldn't be doing this. It's not like it was against the law or anything, but it was made very clear to them by their quidditch teams that fraternising with the enemy was not allowed.
And yeah, Quinn and James knew that they would definitely consider this fraternising.
As they pulled away their smiles were small but seemed like they would become permanent features on their young faces. When Quinn kissed James it was refreshing, new. She really couldn't get enough of it.
He breathed out a sigh of content and rested his forehead on hers. She shut her eyes for a moment, this was nice.
She pulled back and signed, don't you have training in a few minutes?
No, James signed after a moment.
J. You have to go, Quinn giggled slightly.
I know, James signed, but wouldn't you rather I'd stayed.
He grinned up at her before leaning down and peppering a few kisses down her neck. She gently placed her hands on his shoulders and pushed him away. She gave him a look as if to say stop kissing and me get your butt out of this closet.
He pouted but gave in, and nodded to get her off his lap. She slid off and stepped out of the closet, straightening out her uniform as she did so.
But then she made eye contact with a gryffindor she recognised as one of James' friends. He was the one with the dark hair and pale face with his lips always twisted into a smirk...
Except for right now, that smirk had completely dropped from his face as James came stumbling after Quinn into the corridor.
Shit.
This guy furrowed his brows in confusion as his grey eyes scanned their appearances: swollen lips, unruly hair and messy clothes. It wasn't exactly an innocent look.
Quinn watched with wide eyes as he looked at James with a look that could only be considered one of absolute betrayal. His face reddened and contorted in anger.
She saw him begin to yell at James, making motions to obviously say that this whole thing was crazy and what was he doing. It was very surreal watching an argument as it played out and not really being able to intervene, that was one thing Quinn really hated about her life: she had lots of opinions but could never voice them.
But James put a hand up and started talking to this guy, seemingly calming him down. Maybe he was trying to explain?
The guy's face seemed to settle back to it's usual neutral stance. Um, what?
James turned to her, Q, this is my best mate. Sirius. I explained that I...care about you and he should respect that. Sorry he shouted, he was just shocked-
It's okay, it's not like I could hear it anyway, Quinn signed with a small smile.
She held out her hand to this Sirius guy, and he after a moment he shook it. His hand was large and calloused, but his grip was firm and friendly.
Quinn knew that you can tell a lot about a person from their handshake. Her father taught her that.
When she released Sirius's hand, she turned to James and raised her eyebrows.
He looked blankly at her.
She rolled her eyes and quickly signed, you have training.
She saw him mutter something that was probably a curse word, before he quickly kissed her on the cheek and ran off, taking Sirius with him.
Well then.
He was great...but Quinn was still slightly confused. What were they? Were they dating? Just friends? Friends with benefits?? She had no clue, but there was one thing she did know for certain: she really really liked him.
