1 YEAR LATER
Taylor's POV
"Mama" I hear Marie call through the baby monitor. I check the time and it is 6 in the morning. Today is a very special day. It's my baby's first birthday. The past year has been the most amazing year. Sophie had been feeling a bit better about herself and I released my seventh album, Challenge. Marie still doesn't know how to walk. But we aren't pressuring her into walking. She can take all the time she needs. Anyways, I walk in her nursery, and see my bright blue eyes baby girl. She smiles at me and I pick her up. "Happy birthday little one." I say and kiss her on the top of her head. I change her diaper and walk downstairs so we don't wake Tom or Sophie. I give her a bottle so she doesn't fuss for food just yet. I set her in her travel crib with a few toys and turn on Curious George. That is her favorite show. Around 8 in the morning, Tom came downstairs. He picked up Marie and told her happy birthday. He puts her down and walks to the kitchen. Usually Sophie is up by now too. I go upstairs and see her still asleep. I go in and sit on her bed. "Soph, darling, your dad is making breakfast." I say and she opens her eyes.
I've been setting up Marie's birthday party all day. And Sophie has been helping me. Friends and family are coming. No one really Sophie's age is coming so, I made a special phone call. "Mom, can we decorate Marie's cake now?" Sophie asks me just as I finished my last phone call. "Yes, now we can." I tell her. As a 14 year old, she still has the energy as a 5 year old. I love it. As we walk downstairs, I see Tom trying to get Marie to go down for her nap. "Do you need help?" I ask trying not to laugh. "I got it. Go decorate our daughters cake." I says and smiles at me. I walk in the kitchen and see that Sophie has set out all the frosting and food colorings and the cake topper. We did get Marie a single cake, but the one we are decorating is for everyone else. Once we were finished, I walk out and see that Marie is still awake. I pick her up and take her to her room. "You need to go to sleep baby girl." I say and try to rock her to sleep. Soon enough she fell asleep. After a couple hours, everyone started coming and we got the party started. I heard the doorbell. "Sophie, can you go get that?" I ask her. She opens the door to see... Teffy.
Sophie's POV
I can't believe my little sister is a year old. It's so cool. But sad too. Time went by way to fast. Anyways, as mom and I were decorating her birthday cake I decided to ask her who she was on the phone with. "Mom, who were you talking to?" I ask. "More friends that are coming to the party." She says and smiles. "Mom, can I put the cake topper on please?" I ask her as she grabs the cake topper out of the freezer. "Sure baby." She says and gives it to me. I carefully put it on. Once we were done, she put it in the fridge and we walk into the living room. Marie was supposed to go down for a nap but I guess dad couldn't get her to sleep. Mom took her to her room to put her down. I just go on my phone and wait until guests start arriving. As soon as Marie woke up, people started arriving. There were little kids and adults. No one my age. I just sat on the couch. I was socializing with some people but then stopped. The doorbell rang, and mom told me to go get it. She usually is the one that answers the door. I open it and see the one person I've wanted to see for a long time. Teffy. We hug immediately. I was so happy. I thanked mom for inviting her.
Teffy's POV
When I got a phone call from Taylor, I thought something bad happened to Sophie. But once she told me that she wanted to surprise Sophie by me coming over for Marie's birthday. She said that no one there is really her age. She had already asked my mom and I of course said yes. I wanted to text Sophie so bad but that would ruin the surprise. Anyways, I got there and rang the doorbell and once Sophie answered we engulfed each other in a hug. Sophie thanked Taylor for inviting me and we went into the living room. And I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw all of Taylor's friends there. Sophie introduced me to everyone and then we sat down. Next thing I know, Karlie comes over to us. "So, Teffy how are you?" She asks me. "I'm really good." I reply. "Hey Tef, have you seen Marie?" Sophie asks me. "No, I haven't really seen her since she was really little." I tell her. Sophie get up and walks to the hallway. Sh comes back with Marie in her arms. She was so big since the last time I saw her. She held her hands out for me and I gladly held her. She was so smiley. Once she saw Taylor, she started to fuss for her. Taylor took her from my arms.
Taylor's POV
It's time for Marie's presents. I'm nervous but also excited. She loves wrapping paper. She liked to rip it. I helped her open presents by starting it for her and I let her go at it. She some beautiful clothes. And some more toys to add to her collection that is piling in her room. I need to go through them but just haven't gotten around to doing it. I saved one present for the end. And it was in a birthday bag instead of wrapping paper. Marie liked the tissue paper more than the actual present. Once it was unwrapped, everyone started freaking out. All the commotion must have startled Marie because she started to fuss. I picked her up and she calmed down. I looked over at Sophie and she was freaking out with Teffy. I'm happy that she's not upset about this. That's why I was scared. I didn't want Sophie to feel overwhelmed about it. After we sang happy birthday and had cake, I gave Tom Marie and went over to Sophie. "Hey, soph, I have something for you in my room." I tell her and we walk up to my room. Once we walk in and she sees what's on my bed, her eyes light up with joy and excitement. She thanked me with a hug.
