What's the big deal?

No ones P.O.V

Ozpin sits in his office in beacon tower, going through reports on his tablet from the towns and villages within Vales boundaries. He finishes after not seeing too much out of the ordinary and sets the tablet on his desk. He stands and walks over to the window, looking out over beacon, sipping coffee from his beloved mug as his scroll goes off.

He sighs as he pulls it from his pocket.
His eyes widen as he sees the message, a village no more than a hour away has sent a distress message. He taps on a attachment and sees a swarm of Grimm amassing on a nearby hill top on the picture. He quickly calls Glynda Goodwitch. "Ms. Goodwitch, please send team RWBY to my office, I have a mission for them". "I'll send them immediately" he hangs up the call and glances back out the window.

[Time skip]
Rubys' POV

After Professor Ozpin had given us our mission we had all gotten on a bullhead to get to the village. He had told us that a group of grim was about moving to a relatively undefended village. As we're flying, I look out into the woods and see what appears to be a blue flash. "Did any of you see that?!" I turn towards my team pointing where I saw it. They look over and Yang chuckles as she bumps my shoulder "Calm down sis, the village is still a ways off. Its nothing to worry about." They begin to talk to themselves but as we near the drop off point all I can think of is 'what was that? I'm sure I wasn't seeing things.'

Team RWBY gets off the bulkhead a short distance outside the village. We begin to rush over when a group of grim starts charging at them from the wood line. I yell "Alright team, lets..." I stop mid sentence as a man suddenly appear before them, he's quite tall with (h/c) hair and wearing some weird set of robes with a large sword with a thin cloth hanging from the handle in his hand.

"Who the..." He dashes towards the grim, cleaving a ursa in two. He jumps into the air, landing on one as he drives his sword through the beowulfs head, quickly pulling his blade out and swinging it, unleashing a blue wave of energy that strikes into the group leading the charge before the others jump out of the way. Ruby shakes it off and quickly says "Lets help him out!" We rush forward, I activate my semblance and Weiss activating a glyph to enhance her own speed, as we follow him into the fight.

Again I see him basically disappear and reappear in front of the grim, beginning to swing at any beowulf or ursa within range of his blade. Yang jumps into the fray, slamming and firing her gauntlets into a ursas' stomach sending it flying back as Blake strikes at a beowulf that lunged for Yang. Weiss and I both begin to fight a pack of beowulf's. I stab the alpha in the chest before firing, splitting it in two. Weiss uses her glyph to hold one in place as she strikes quickly at it as I jump back and stabs my scythe into the ground, firing it to support Weiss.

After a brief fight, the last of the grim falls. I look at the him finish off the last of the grim and turn towards me. I realize that he doesnt seem older than any of us and has (e/c) colored eyes. "Hey! Who are you?" I asks him but as he opens his mouth to respond another smaller group of grim spring from the forest. I get ready to fight but he runs past us, holding his sword as some energy begins to build around it. "Getsuga...Tenshou!" He yells as he swings his sword in a arc, cutting through the trees and the grim.

He sighs before placing the sword on his back as the cloth wraps itself around the blade. He turns towards us, to see they are all staring at him with surprise. He looks at each of us before smiling a bit. He walks a bit closer before stopping, with us still standing there in shock. "What's the big deal?"

I know it seems short but this is just kind of like a opener, I didn't want to spend long before introducing you, the reader. I felt like this was a good stopping point for what I was going for. Please give me any critiques you have or anything you want to see! I wanted a story like this mainly because I thought the grim and hollow are alike (except ones soulless as far as we've been told) and I thought the zanpakuto was a good thing to base along a semblance since it gives them there abilities. So I hope you enjoy and continue reading, the other chapters will be longer.

A/N I'm working on another part just been busy with life stuff. Went back and realized my writing was kinda bad in this part so I made some corrections and what not.
