"A clockwork mouse?"
Mister Whiskers needed to unwind but, watching it dart into that fishy tube and disappear, was all he could take.
Knowing his cousin and nephew were killed by curiosity; he tried to ignore the situation.
Somewhere he heard gears ticking and a net was closing on his fragile mind.
"To hell with it!"
Crouching down he waited. Something stirred and he pounced, into that vortex and out of sight.
It felt like he was floating then falling. He landed by an open door in an unfamiliar room.
There he spied the clockwork mouse. He chased it outside.
The world was odd but, his eyes were set on the prey. That mechanical rodent was tricky.
If only he could hide better. Then he'd sneak up on that monstrosity.
Suddenly he was invisible. The clockwork mouse turned a corner and froze with fear. A set of cat's teeth grinned.
