"Yah, yah, yah!" Min Ha panted, her breaths coming in ragged gasps. She struggled to keep up with Taehyung, who was older and stronger, but she was determined to give her all."Try again. You can't beat me," Taehyung taunted.
"In your dreams! You always say that but end up losing," Min Ha retorted.
"Yah! Just last time you won," Taehyung protested.
Min Ha swung her sword with renewed vigor, striking his with enough force to knock Taehyung off his feet.
"Yah! I only let you win because you're a girl," he grumbled, getting up with a grin.
Min Ha smiled triumphantly. "Yeah, right. You always say that."
"Whatever," Taehyung said, brushing himself off. "By the way, did Mina reply to your letter?"
Min Ha shook her head. "No, she didn't. I think Aunt Park is ill. In her last letter, she mentioned being very anxious because she's only with her brother, Park Ji Min. After Aunt's husband passed away last year, she hasn't been well. She misses him terribly."
Taehyung sat beside her, his expression thoughtful. "I hope she's alright."
Min Ha looked at him with concern. "Why are you so concerned about Eonni? Kim Taehyung, what's on your mind?"
Taehyung frowned and lightly tapped her on the head. "Aniya, I'm just being considerate."
"Taehyung-ah, will you marry my Eonni?" Min Ha asked suddenly.
"What? No way!" Taehyung responded, his eyes wide.
"Why not?" Min Ha pressed.
"She looks like you, and you're not exactly a beauty," Taehyung teased.
"I'm not ugly, and anyone can find me attractive," Min Ha shot back.
Taehyung shook his head dismissively. "Only that boy who promised to marry you will do so. Believe me, Min Ha, he will."
Min Ha, feigning anger, lunged at him and started punching him. "Yah! I told you not to talk about him. I don't even believe you're my best friend if you keep teasing me like this. I could chop off your head with my sword!"
Taehyung laughed heartily, thoroughly enjoying the banter. "Mianhe, I was just joking. Araji?"
Min Ha sat beside him, her face serious. "I often wonder about my future, Taehyung-ah."
"Hmm, what about it?" Taehyung asked, curious.
"Wae? I won't tell you," Min Ha said with a playful smile as she ran off.
"Yah! Yah!" Taehyung called after her, chasing her around.
---
Nine years later, Min Ha raced through the streets, her hanbok fluttering behind her, her long hair dancing in the wind. She stopped abruptly when she saw a striking man standing before her. He was dressed in a light sky-blue robe, a black forehead band, his tall frame and handsome features commanding attention.
"Why can't you come like a normal girl?" he asked with a hint of amusement.
"How old are you?" she asked, eyes narrowing.
"Twenty-three," he replied.
Min Ha slapped him lightly on the head. "Yah! That hurt."
"Pabo, don't you know if someone rushes in like that, something must be wrong?" she scolded.
"What is it?" he asked, concern flashing in his eyes.
"Taehyung-ah, Eonni is coming. She mentioned in her letter that she's arriving with her brother. But..." Min Ha's face fell, her happiness turning to sorrow. She sat down, overwhelmed.
