A Chalky Love - Susie/Noelle

The Spark

Susie awoke to find herself hanging off the side of the bed, and scrambled to pull herself back on top of the mattress. Apparently, the monster hadn't had a good night's sleep, with a painful headache to add just that bit of pain to an otherwise uneventful morning. She groans as she gets up from the bed, lazily changing into her casual clothes. 

"Susie...? Are you awake...?"

Kris knocked before entering Susie's room, holding a tray of a variety of homemade breakfast platters. They had apparently been very busy this morning. "K-Kris, what's this about? You've never done this before, bringing me breakfast, so what's up?" 

Kris sets the tray down on the dresser, walks over to the bed, and sits down next to Susie. They sigh, looking at her with warmth in their eyes, before explaining.

"I ... noticed you were... kinda down yesterday, so... I made you these... I... I hope you like them."

Susie, rather taken aback by Kris' actions, simply chuckles and places a hand on their shoulder. "Pssshh, Kris, you didn't have to do all this, really! I was just a bit tired last night, thats- ACK!" Susie exclaims in surprise as Kris suddenly leans in very close to her face, their fiery red eyes looking directly into hers, reminding her of a very similar look she got from a certain Goat Momster while they were still in high school.

"Tell me, whats wrong...?"

"E-eh, i-its really nothing Kris, d-don't worry about me, I'm fine, honest!" Susie gulps slightly as Kris leans in closer, pouting a bit. "K-Kris, l-look, lets just eat before it gets cold, okay? I-I really wouldn't want that meal to go to waste."

Kris, sighing slightly and smiling in defeat, shrugs before retrieving the tray and placing it between them before sitting down again. Susie smiles hungrily before digging into the food, while Kris eats their portions politely and succinctly. Kris continues to look at Susie from under their hair, clearly worried about her, yet deciding it was best to leave that topic for later. 

Kris waved goodbye to Susie as she left, wishing her to have a better day with a slight smile. Kris sighed as the door shut behind her, chuckling slightly as they had forgotten to tell her that there are no classes on the day of prom.

-TIME SKIP-

"W-What the hell!? Why is everything locked!?" Susie grumbles as she tugs on the door to her class, before noticing a small tap on her shoulder. She turns around suddenly, defensive. "W-who's there?!"

"Uhm... h-hi?" A small female deer monster leans out of the corner she had ran behind. "Uhm, hey, Susie... U-uh, wh-what brings you here?" The deer walks timidly over, blushing ever so slightly.

Susie awkwardly rubs her neck, slightly embarrassed for being so jumpy. "O-Oh. H-hey Noelle, sorry, I'm a biiiiiit jumpy today, not sure why, heh." She takes note of Noelle's blush, as well as something she's holding behind her back. 

"O-Oh! w-w-well, um, You see, um... I-I noticed y-y-you didn't have a um, partner for prom t-tonight, s-s-so, I thought that.... well...." Noelle takes out a box of chocolates, with a side of chalk, from behind her back and timidly presents it to Susie. On the box are big cursive words reading: "Susie, Will you go out to prom with me?"

 Susie, completely taken by surprise, blushes a vivid purple, and could only muster the willpower to shakily take the chocolates and say "U-uh... s-sure..." before Noelle takes off, cheering and jumping down the hallway.

Susie stands there for a moment, still reeling from everything her mind is attempting to process. "W-why... did she..." Susie looks down at the note, examining it closely. "P.S. I-If you'd like to, um, hang out after, t-that'd be n-nice!" Her body is completely in shock, and leans on the door, blushing and re-reading the note over and over. 

"... Why did she... ask me...?"
