Waking up was interesting. I was laying on the grass, it was early morning, and there was a huge spider on me. Now, I'm not usually afraid of spiders, but when it's huge and on your arm, you get scared. So I screamed, and Orion and Astrid both scream and wake up, and then Cylin runs out the tent with his sword drawn.
I pointed to the spider.
"Kill it! Please!" I scream.
"You scared me! It's just a spider, stupid." He bent over and grabbed it! Like it was no big deal! He set it down on the grass, and I stood up.
"Thanks, Cylin." I said.
"Whatever." He was staring into my soul with his weirdly dark eyes. I stared at him for a minute before Orion cleared his throat.
"Well I am officially missing Aquila's birthday, so let's make the best of today." Orion sighed.
"Who is Aquila?" I asked. The name sounded familiar, but I couldn't quite remember.
"Aryse," Orion sighed, " she is my sister, Leo is my brother, Artemis is my mom, Joe is my dad. Got it?"
"Joe is a weird name." I commented.
"Yeah." Orion shrugged.
We all stood in silence for a minute or so.
I walked over to the tent and started to pack it up.
" You know, it's weird being all alone, outcasted by the government." Orion stared into space.
"Yeah." Astrid said.
I continued to bring down the tent when there was a rustle in the bushes. I looked over but saw nothing out of the ordinary. I looked over at Orion and he was also looking at the bush.
"Did you hear that?" He asked.
"Yeah, I'm not investigating though." I replied with a laugh.
Cylin walked towards the bush. He entered the bush, and we heard a soft meow. Cylin emerged from the bush with a grey cat.
"I found this." He said, holding the cat like a baby. It seemed content with its situation.
Orion stared at the cat. Then, out of nowhere said, "I'm hungry."
"Orion no." Astrid ran to protect the cat.
"I'm not going to eat the cat, just seeing an animal that eats reminds me I'm hungry. I don't know, I'm terrified and confused by this whole situation!" Orion sat down on the grass.
"Guys," Cylin was rocking the cat back and forth, " I think it likes me."
"The first thing in the world." Astrid said quite rudely.
"Shut it, tiny." Cylin put the cat on the ground and it circled his feet.
"Hey! Just because your a giant doesn't mean I'm short!!" Astrid was clearly upset.
" Your five foot. I'm a whole foot and an inch taller than you." Cylin smirked.
"Ok, let's go get some food!" I said, finished with both tents.
"I'm on board with that." Orion walked into the woods without even grabbing a bag.
"Orion! Wait!" Astrid ran after him. She didn't grab a bag either.
"I'm assuming your not gonna help." I said to Cylin.
"I'm a gentleman, but I have a cat, so I can't carry much." He scooped up the cat.
"What are you going to name it?" I said, knowing we were going to end up keeping it.
"Well, since he is grey, I'm thinking Earl." He didn't smile, but I know he was close to.
I heard shouting in the woods, and a loud twack, so I grabbed all the bags and ran towards the noise. Cylin followed me, running besides me. We reached the spot of the noise, and saw that Astrid was beating a chicken with a stick. Orion was horrified.
"What are you doing?!" I screamed, running to Astrid and grabbing her arms.
"It ran after me and was trying to bite me!!" Astrid stepped away from the chicken, which was not moving. It was just laying on the floor. Earl ran up to the chicken and bit into the chickens neck.
"Cylin, contain your cat!" Orion cried.
"I mean, it's already dead. Earl is probably hungry."
"You named it Earl?" Astrid judged. "That's stupid."
"No, it's perfect! He is grey, Earl is grey, Earl Grey? Or maybe your too uncultured?" Cylin looked down at her.
"I know what it is, stupid." Astrid looked to the side. She most likely didn't know what it was.
"Oh really? Then explain it. What is it, exactly? Just let me know so I know you know what I know." Cylin had her trapped.
Now, call me a bad friend, but I did nothing. Well, neither did Orion, so I guess we both knew we couldn't stop Cylin. I just watched her call the tea Earl Grey a type of mop.
"Ha! How.. pathetic." Cylin picked up Earl, who had eaten some of the chicken, and walked into the woods.
I looked over at Astrid. She had her arms crossed and was looking down. Orion walked over to her and gave her a hug. She hugged back, and I took some food out of my bag to give to her. When they were done hugging, Astrid wiped her eyes, and took the apple I was holding out to her. She walked in the direction Cylin and Earl went in, and we followed.
