Chapter 5 - Serves You Right Peanut Brain

They say that, sometimes, when one person is missing, the whole world seems depopulated.. and it is true. Some mornings still feel like the night before. I'm just waiting for the days Reagan, without you here with me, the sun forgets to shine. I don't know what to do anymore but I'll always find a way just to have you back. I'm willing to risk my life, just wait for me. Please wait for me, I'm going to have you back.

"Why are you crying?"

I came back to reality after hearing Luke's voice beside me. All eyes are suddenly shifted on my direction and I immediately wiped my tears away.

"Duh? I'm not. I just yawned you nincompoop!" I opposed as I swallowed a lump in my throat, rolling my eyes and I glared at Nathan who's on the steering wheel.

"Both eyes on the road, Nathan. Both eyes," he chuckled as he put his attention back on the road.

"So," I said and turned my attention to Travis who's sitting beside Nathan. "What do we have in there?" I queried while tapping his shoulder with my right hand and the other pointing on the glove box. He shrugged leaning closer to the said box as he pulled the handle revealing its contents.

"Some papers, an ID, hm what else-oh here Tic Tac," I grabbed the candies right away because hey, I'm so hungry. At least this could help a bit. It's half full and I chewed them all just like peanuts.

"No more," said Travis.

"What's that box stuck in the corner?" Nathan intercepted. I groaned as I put back his face on the road's direction. "Will you please put your fucking eyes on the road?! What on 'both eyes on the road' can't you decipher huh?" I wailed, my eyebrows almost touching each other's ends. No way I'm dying in a car crash.

"Jesus," Travis murmured while looking at the box he's holding..

"A condom?" I barked and pulled the box away from him then bursted in to laughter after reading the dent box. "Size XS, the hell is this, my first time to see one!" I kept laughing while hovering the box in front of Lucas who's right now, blushing. He kept nudging me.

"You react like you won an outsanding award Juls." Nathan jested while drumming his fingers on the steering wheel.

"Luh?"

"True, isn't?"

"Oh just shut up Nathan, will you?"

"Make me-" I shoved the box of condom inside his mouth and threw myself back on my seat comfortably.

"Serves you right peanut brain."

"The f-crazy old lady!" he beamed, removing the box in his mouth. Travis snorted.

"How was it?" Travis to Nathan.

Nathan cursed after throwing the condom to Travis who immediately caught it. I glanced to this quiet Lucas who's looking at an ID so I sat properly, leaning closer to Lucas and read the name printed on it, "Allegra Perpetua O. Staub..." I read letting my voice trails off. "Weird name huh? She must be the owner of this car, and the condom." I assumed whilst nodding.

Who cares?

I sighed, I am a certified carnapper now. I cannot believe myself, it's not like it was my first time, though, because I stole a mini van before but this time, I just did as I was told. Travis was the mastermind behind all these. I was with Lucas when I stole this car which was parked in front of a closed meat shop and of course I opened the door lock with long and sharp wires. I know how to start the engine without a key, you just need to connect some wires and just a few sparks, voila! It'll start. And why do I know that? I did some research before with dad. Practice makes perfect.

Anything for Reagan.

On the other hand, Travis and Nathan were waiting on North City sidewalk. Lucas and I fetch them up in there.

"So where are we heading?" questioned Lucas as he gave back the ID to Travis.

I shrugged, "I dunno."

"Colton's private resort, he's my cousin but don't worry. He's currently busy so, he's not in there. We'll have his resort for ourselves." Nathan answered.

"How can I be so sure that we are going to be safe in there?!" I heckled out loud, making Lucas and Travis glance at my direction both arching brows at me.

I frowned.

"Will you please tone down your voice? You're freaking annoying!" Nathan nagged and from the rear view mirror, I saw his furrowed eyebrows too.

"Aren't you?" I jeered while shaking his steady seat a bit.

"Stop it Juls!"

"Don't Juls me! We're not close!"

"I don't care."

I slapped his right arm making him groan.

"K."

I came back to my proper seat as I placed the scarf Travis lent me on my chest, using it as my mini blanket. Not minding Nathan's murmurs.

"Travis, what time is it?" I asked while looking at the view we're passing. The color of the skies were a mixture of black, light blue, orange, and grey.

"Five oh two."

"Thanks." I leaned my head on the windshield, making me feel some tingling sensations in my ears due to shaking because we're passing a rocky road at the moment. Now, fixing my attention to the birds flying across the sky. I remember Reagan in everything I see. We used to watch flying birds together, look at the moon together, thinking it's following us. Now, I'm all alone. I met these three people with me. They are the ones who helped me escape prison, but I know they can't help me with Reagan. It's my task alone. I'm sure we are being hunted by the police. We're escaping the law and this isn't easy.

I closed my eyes feeling my chest tightening.

I'll be with them first, Reagan. After that, I'll continue my job. I need you back.
