I looked back the way I came. “Ashura, I bet they haven’t even noticed I was missing yet. What parents they are!” I said angrily. I probably looked like an insane person. Ashura was sitting in my hoodie pocket curled up while I was ranting as my hands flung around in the air. I heard a car and the were coming fast so I dove behind a bush which Ashura objected to immediately. “SHH!” I told her as I hid in the bush. I heard the car pull over and stop. “I thought I saw someone up here.” I heard Mr. Johnson’s voice. “Could it be her?” Another voice asked. “Maybe. She was holding her arm when she walked in yesterday. She may have already found it. We should report this to Lord Xavier.” I heard Mrs. Johnson’s voice. Ashura purred. I placed my hand over her muzzle. “Did you guys hear that?” Mr.Johnson said and stepped closer to the bush I was in. “Gary! Enough fooling around!” Mrs. Johnson yelled. “Well I am so sorry Elaine! Forgive me, Captain!” He said sarcastically. “Don’t even start! I had to act as your wife for eight years. I almost had to commit to you if she wouldn’t have run away!” Mrs’ Johnson yelled. “Come on you guys! She is obviously not here! Let’s go!” The other guy said. I breathed a breath of relief. As they left I crawled out of the bush and stayed in the cover of the trees. After it was dark I set up the tent I bought at a market before I left town. I made a fire and roasted a can of beans. I looked down at Ashura. She was so pretty. She had green scales and bright green eyes. She was eating some strawberries that I bought at the market. I yawned and shoveled the beans into my mouth. After i finished I climbed into the tent and pulled Ashura with me. I fell asleep soon after.
I woke up being crushed. I gasped and pushed whatever was sitting on me off. I quickly sat up and looked to my side and saw an even bigger than before Ashura. She took up almost the whole pillow. She would no longer fit in my hoodie pocket. “How?!” I yelled as i picked up the now fifty pound dragon. “Well we grow really rapidly!” A little child-like voice spoke. I quickly looked around. “Who’s there and how did you find me?” I asked pulling out a sharpened stick and setting Ashura down. “Hey! I am down here Alice!” I gasped and looked down at Ashura. “Did you just speak?” I ask. “Well not aloud. That would be impossible. We speak telepathically!” Ashura’s voice rang through my ears. ‘So can you hear me like this?’ I thought. “Yep sure can!” Ashura purred.
After the whole getting used to a talking baby dragon, we cleaned up and headed for the road again. I also noticed something: My eyes are no longer brown, they are a bright green. The pupils were becoming slits as well. Just the perks of being a dragon tamer I guess.
Weeks passed and Ashura grew rapidly. In three weeks she was full grown and we were able to fly. I had no idea where we were going but I just knew that I had to get as far away from Sunset village as i could. My ears had changed as well. They were no longer regular human ears , they looked more like an elve’s. I sighed as I sat in the natural hot spring. I was floating around when I heard a scream and then someone fell into the spring. I quickly jumped out and wrapped myself in a towel. “Who’s there?!” I shouted. Ashura landed beside me. She was now the size of two buses stacked on top of each other. “It was a male. About your age. I was doing a perimeter check when I caught him.” Ashura told me. “Cover me.” I say. She nods and spreads her wings so I could get dressed.
Once I finished, I stepped out to see a boy who looked my age and sort of like me but his features were different. His eyes were sky blue with no pupil. He also had blue scales on his hands and shoulders. “Who are you?”
