I was woken up by a loud slam on my desk. I raised my head and glanced at the portfolio thrown beside me.

"Get up." My boss snapped. "Don't sleep on the job because we have a special case for you."

"Isn't it all the same? Anyone can kill," I groaned, not wanting to assassinate someone during my exam period.

"This job requires skill. Tactic. Stealth. A grudge." He said grimly. "Look through the papers and, for fuck's sake, do it right this time. Otherwise, no pay."

"Yes, sir." I said slightly sarcastically. He scoffed and left the room, to which I rolled my eyes.

This was my life. Y/N, part time student, full time assassin, who lives and sleeps at her little desk in the corner of her gang's premises.

Well, I wouldn't call it a gang. We're a collection of outcasts, rebels and orphans who kill for money.

I sighed and opened the portfolio, tapping my pen against the desk and skimming my eyes across the description.

"Job title: assassinate the king." I read as I held my pen still. "So this is why he gave the job to me..."

The current king, King Bang, had killed my father (the ex-president) in order to reinstate monarchy. It was like we were back in the 1800s, although it was 2103; there were wars, king and queens, governors and divisions in society. I wouldn't be surprised if they started naming the districts with numbers like in The Hunger Games.

I continued reading through, muttering important details to remember them. "Masked ball, tomorrow at 8:30pm..." I stopped. "Caution: the royal sons might interfere." I read out.

The royal sons? I wasn't aware they were old enough to...

I flipped the page and gasped, absorbing the information in front of me.

"Kim Woojin, aged 21, son of Governor Kim, highest up on the governor board and the king's right man. Is abused often by his father. Considered caring and sweet, motherly.

Bang Chan, aged 21, son of King Bang. His father doubts Chan is good enough a leader to take on the throne. Considered caring yet harsh, demanding yet fun and flirty.

Lee Minho, aged 20, son of Sir Lee, King Bang's escort. His father often gets trampled on by the King. Considered playful and flirty, erotic and dirty.

Seo Changbin, aged 19, son of Governor Seo, second highest up on the governor board. His father is considered useless compared to Governor Kim. Considered dark and mysterious.

Hwang Hyunjin, aged 18, adopted brother of Bang Chan. Referenced to as a disgusting imposter who smuggled his way into the royal family. Considered handsome and shy, popular with the ladies.

Han Jisung, aged 18, son of Sir Han, the King's courier. His father also gets looked down on by the higher-ups. Considered stupid and playful.

Lee Felix, aged 18, Bang Chan's best friend. King Bang dislikes him due to the fact that he's an orphan. Considered silly yet mysterious.
