Chris.

“You’re angry?”

“Who me? No, why would you think that baby?”

“Ma--”

“So introduce me…”

“Oh um, Maya this is my mother. Joyce, Ma this is my new friend Maya.”

“Nice to meet you Mrs. Brown.”

“Same here, your daughter is beautiful, my god and so energetic.”

“Yeah she took a nap earlier so she’s going to be up and running until about 8pm.”

“Well that’s fine with me, are you hungry Angelica?”

“Yeah.”

“Oh, I promised Maya and Ang I’d make them dinner.” My mother began to laugh, holding onto her stomach.

“What’s so funny?”

“He promised to cook for you two? … Him?”

“Yeah, he swears he can cook, I said that’s okay but we were close by so why not.”

“Honey Chris can cook ice in the freezer, how is he going to cook for you two … Oh Christopher.”

“Ma, why you gotta bust me out like that?” She laughed again so did Maya.

“Well how about I cook and Maya you help me out in the kitchen.”

“Okay that’s fine with me. I love to cook actually.”

“Wonderful, we’ll get to know each other some more.”

“Look at ya’ll bonding … I’m go up stairs and change … Is Mike here?”

“Yeah he’s up stairs.”

“Alright.” Maya and my mother smiled turning away from me. I smiled and picked up Angelica, taking her upstairs with me.

“Sup Mike?”

“Nun, Damn, how long was I sleep? And you got a baby?” He joked; I laughed and pulled Angelica off my shoulders.

“Nah, this is Angelica … Maya’s daughter.”

“Ohh, she’s a cute kid. I got to go.”

“Where you going?”

“The courts. I need to work on my game.”

“You still a loser practice or not.”

“You got jokes?”

“Nah, but I know you ain’t going without me?”

“Yeah, we ain’t conjoined twins nigga; I can go places without you.” He said changing shirts and grabbing his basketball.

“I’m just saying.”

“Bye nigga.”

“Oh wait … Did you ask Hope?”

“Yeah, she kicked me out.” I let out a heavy laughed and spun Angelica around in the chair as she giggled.

“So she told you she wasn’t a vir -- Pure huh?”

“Nah she--”

“She didn’t tell you who she lost it to did she?”

“Yeah…”

“Damn and you not mad about the whole thing?”

“Nah nigga, it’s nothing I mean she was more upset that I asked than I was when I found out.” I sighed and rubbed my chest.
