A dream startled him awake...maybe a memory. He wasn't sure which and he didn't care to distinguish, not when his head and nearly his whole damn body was throbbing and his lucidity was questionable.

It took a moment to gain his bearings. He was in a hospital. An unwelcome realization, but it wasn't exactly an uncommon place for him to wake up in. He wasn't sure for how long he has been here, or how bad his injuries were. The only certainty was the lack of morphine.

Pains killers were an unfortunate but necessary part of hero work. With a little chemical assistance, he might be able to get out of here today.

Without a glance, Aizawa reached up to increase the relief he sought but he ended up smacking the infusion pump ungracefully with a crude cast instead.

Both of his arms were completely cast, including his hands. He thought about his nightmare, there was a hand and it was perilously reaching and he couldn't stop it.

Aizawa eyes widen. The USJ!

"The students," Aizawa tried to call out but all the came out was a wheeze of sound, followed by a violent and involuntary cough. The fit was agonizing, every convulsion felt as if he had been body slammed into the concrete by the Nomu monster again.

Unable to catch his breath, in a clumsy panic, he knocked over the infusion pump. The line jerked as the pump hit the ground. He gasped as the IV was ripped out of his arm. His entire body trembled and it took several minutes for his breathing to return to normal.

The pain in his body was now a dull ache but his throat felt like he had been breathing fire.

He glanced towards the nurse button but made no effort to push it. It would be inconsequential...there was no one to answer it. They would have burst into the room by now.

Something was wrong.

The machines were worrisomely quiet. Despite being fully hooked up to monitors not a single alarm was blaring. His eyes cut upwards, the monitor was black, the only source of light was from the window.

His mind raced. How was it probable that he would have been left in this condition? He might be a difficult patient and had some indiscretions with the hospital staff, but he wouldn't be left, not with Hizashi at his beside and UA footing the bill.

No.

Something happened.

An accident... a natural disaster?

No.

Hero codes and procedures, the hospital staff and patients would have been evacuated swiftly during the incident. He glanced around the room but found no evidence what had conspired outside and without data, it would be foolish to speculate.

The private suite he was in had unintentionally become a time capsule. At least he could get a timeline on how long he has been here without medical attention.

He would have to formulate a plan based on what's in this room. He desperately wanted to get to his husband, to his students, but rushing out without accurate information may, in fact, get him killed.

Glancing down at the IV line on the ground he noticed the bags were empty. The nurse had purposely connected several bags and the intravenous fluids had a slow drip, so that the other nurses weren't forced to unnecessarily enter his room.

Hizashi has always been quite vocal about him getting proper sleep when he's at the hospital and the staff agreed to the extra IV bags reluctantly because Aizawa was somewhat of an insufferable patient. At least that is what he has been told in the past.

The bags lasted four to six hours each, and the three bags without being replaced would last a day at tops. His throat burned and he felt confident that he could categorize his thirst as extreme. He smacked his lips together, if he could pinch his skin it would likely lack elasticity, he was dehydrated despite the fluid drips...that would take two or three days.

He felt feverish, either due to dehydration, or worse.

Infection.

There was a strong, unpleasant smell coming from the bandages on his face. He glanced to his bedside table.

Flowers. Some were from the staff of U.A, some from students, and Hizashi had left him some sunflowers. He always liked those, but they were as wilted and dried up as he was.

"Hizashi," He whispered. He needed to get the hell out of here. He closed his eyes, factoring in his degree of dehydration, the IV bags, flowers, even the dust on the table. He had been unconscious for five to six days.

He might not have lasted seven. He was uncertain what waited for him outside his room but he knew that he was in no condition to face it.

He glanced towards the bathroom. Hospitals were self-sufficient. There was a high probability that there was still running water. Even without power, as long as the pipes were undamaged.

'Get up.'

He could hear Hizashi encouraging voice in his head. He knew that he had to get up, he wasn't going to let himself die here.

'Get up now.'

Aizawa huffed in annoyance and slowly pushed himself upwards into a sitting position. Of course, Hizashi's voice inside his head would be naggy, but he wanted to desperately hear and see him in person. He squeezed his eyes tightly, too dehydrated to even produce a single tear. Everything hurt, and he might pass out.

He gritted his teeth as he gathered his strength and pushed off the bed, the bandages covering his face muffled his cry. His legs trembled and his head spun. He took a step forward and felt himself being awkwardly and painfully restrained.

"No," He whimpered, realizing that there was a catheter still attached to him. Using his stubby cast he grabbed the catheter bag. He wouldn't be able to remove it until he had freed his hands.

'You have to move now'

"I know," Aizawa spoke out loud. "I know" He repeated a bit softer.

He slowly stepped away from the bed, taking one small step at a time. Thank fucking god his bathroom door was open, he wouldn't be able to open it with the casts on his arms. He stumbled into the bathroom and leaned down, using his mouth to turn on the faucet.

He drank until he felt sick and lowered himself to the ground. He felt like absolute shit. He held up his cast and then glanced at the tub he was resting against.

This was going to hurt.
