A MIXED POV

Zander and Alison went up to the attic to get some old blankets and anything that could keep them warm. The rain had already began and so far they were all getting too cold.

With their first calamity. The kitchen window broke into pieces all over the kitchen floor, then the power went off.

Frank had gone back to get the generator but came back with an injured hand, just as if nothing could get any worse, Veronika threw up everything she had drank and ate.

Alison found a pack of candles and a lighter. While Zander found the first aid kit and the old blankets.

When they went down stairs finally Veronika came out of her room, and Frank sat beside her looking pale, and still bleeding.

“Who is the doctor among us?” Zander called out, chuckling.

Tylor was the one to stand and collect the first aid kit, and Zander smiled.

Tyler did her thing like a work of art, she was already a very good doctor, which made them all impressed, including Frank who watched her treat his hand in awe.

Rayan got the fire place ablaze, with the warmth they were all relaxed just except the storm, which once in a while there was the blinding lightening and a thunderous thunder clap that almost made them tone-deaf.

They all sat in an almost perfect circle when Zander said he wanted to tell a story.

“Once upon a time there lived a farmer in a faraway island. This farmer had problems with his land because every Sunday it would rain.

He called it the Sunday storm, this rain would wash away all the seeds he would plant.

So, one day he decided he would plant his seeds inside his house instead, when his seeds began to grow, the was no space inside his small cottage so he brought them out again but this time the Sunday rain did not come anymore, he became very rich.

Until five men in suit came to his farm and told him they wanted to buy his farm.

But the farmer declined saying;
‘NO! NO! NO, for without my farm I am barely a man and without my seeds I have no destiny.

NO! NO! NO!’
But the five men did not look convinced, they left but after 3days the came back with a truck trying to break into the farmers farm.

The old farmer was well prepared so he ran in front of the truck carrying a hammer, the same five men came down and said the wanted to take the land by force but the old man declined again saying.

‘NO! NO! NO! For without my farm I am barely a man and without my seed I have no destiny’

The five men would not listen the wanted to run him over when suddenly the came a blinding white light… and appeared an angel, dressed in snow white. Her only words were.

‘NO! NO! NO! Leave this farm alone’
But the five men did not listen the wanted to run the farmer and the angel but their car rouse to the sky as the five men screamed for help.

They told the lady they were sorry so she let them down and told them never to come back.

‘The Sunday rain had always been a blessing for things to come’ the angel explained to the farmer.”

“THE END” Zander said dramatically.

“That was wonderful.” Veronika smiled. Tylor was already at sleep and Alison and Rayan who had one eye opened.

“Lovely angel… and good farmer. Nice story in total.”  Rayan grinned.

Frank just smiled then stood up then took Veronika’s hand and waved to them then signalled he would be back.

He opened the door for her and she walked in. he helped her set the bed before she crashed. He laid by her side looking into her beautiful green eyes. He did not say a word but neither did she.

“I love you and I am sorry if I have done anything to offend you.” He paused. “If I have hurt you in any way.”

“What you said last night… that you don’t what me to end up like your mother, I know you probably don’t even remember, I know, but I made a choice_”

before she could finish, he leaned in and softly placed his lips on hers in a deep kiss, at first she did not kiss back, until she pulled him close.

They both pulled away breathlessly. She put her head under the blanket, covering her face, she knew he was watching her.

She could not bring herself to see those grey eyes. Few minutes later she heard him leave the room and close the door slowly behind him.

Everyone thought the rain would go down but it only became stronger. Thwarting every one’s night.

Tylor and Zander were in their room sleeping while Rayan was sleeping on the couch.

Frank and Alison sat beside each other in front of the fire place roasting marshmallows and eating them. Frank closed his eyes but was not sleeping. While Alison looked lost.

“Knock! Knock!” Alison broke the silence then Frank smiled.

” Nahh, I’m not doing such.” He laughed out loud.

“oh, come on. Don’t kill the vibe.” Alison pinched him.

“Who’s there?” Frank finally replied with a sigh.

“Annoying goat!” Alison said.

“Annoying goat. who?” he asked.

“Annoying goat you!” she busted into laughter and so did Frank.

It was not so funny but it could do for the moment. She had a way of always making him smile.

“I did not see that coming.” Frank said.

“Why would you? Your eyes were closed.” She teased him.

He sighed deeply then smiled. But he could not hide the fact that he was hurting inside.

“My mom once told me that when I am sad I should look into the mirror and spit on my face.” Alison turned blue.

“Huh? Lmfao. What kind of advice is that!?” Frank asked bewildered.

“Step- mom she was sent from hell and also lived in big castles where she got married to Lucifer.” Alison smiled.

“I am sure Lucifer was a bad father.” He said.

“Yeah.”

They fell silent and listened to the loud thunder as few minutes later they both fell into sleep on the floor.
