Chapter 14 A storm of shadow

Blake's P.O.V.
I woke up in my bed with Shelby having already left for work. The sky was overcast,it looked like it was gonna storm. "Well I hope nothing goes wrong today." I walked out of my room and down the stairs to the kitchen and saw Kit,James,and Lizzie prepping breakfast. "Morning pops." "Hey there buddy shouldn't you be at school?" "Heh,about that." "James what'd you do?" "For starters the other kid started it,and for second we might've gotten carried away,and..... accidentally blew up the classroom." I put my hand against my face. "Is that why you've got bandages on your arm? Cause the other kid burned you?" "Yeah.... I'm sorry dad." "It's fine kiddo. Besides that little punk probably deserved it right?" "Yeah he did,he was messing with Jess." I paused. "Ooh,who's Jess James?" He immediately started blushing. "Just a friend,that's all." I smirked. "Man if your mom was here you'd be getting interrogated." He blushed even worse. "So which one of these two picked you up from school?" He shook off his flustered reaction. "Liz did." I looked up at Lizzie. "So was I right that with the outfit everyone just assumed you were a normal person?" She gave an exasperated sigh. "Yes,I can't believe you were correct,but it worked." Suddenly we heard a loud boom of thunder. "Welp sounds like the storm started." Suddenly I heard my phone start ringing. I looked down at the screen it was Dax. "Hey bud,what's going on?" "Blake hurry up and get to Ifrit's place,one of Vex's soldiers started attacking him." "I'm on my way,Lizzie keep an eye on James. Kit get ready for a fight."

Me and Kit walked out of the house to see three figures fighting atop Ifrit's house. Two were flying one was firing at one of the flyers from the roof. "Sound variant Fused technique. Wings of the sky dragon!" I flew as fast as I could over to the roof. Kit was following behind me having morphed into a Salamence. When we arrived we saw that the source of the storm was the guy that was attacking Ifrit,and Dax. "Well,well,well." When he spoke it sounded like the very atmosphere trembled beneath his voice. "It appears as though master Vex's grandson has arrived." He glanced at Kit. "As well as a shapeshifter,interesting. Oh where are my manners. My name is Duster, Luke,Duster." I looked at his body,electricity seemed to beam off of him in every direction. "Let me guess your the Stormbringer?" "I see someone knows a Legendary when they see one." I unsheathed the east wind. "If your looking for a fight Big Bird go ahead and bring it on!" I lunged at him with the sword in hand. He praried the strike without him so much as moving his arms. "Care to try again?" I focused my aura through the sword. "Sound Variant Channeling: Awaken East wind Terra Blade!" The sword changed to a large two handed sword it seemed to be made of the rocks found in the deepest layers of the earth,and shadows danced off of it as if it was being lit like a cave. I swung at him with the new east wind form. It hit him,and left a massive cut across his left shoulder. "AAAGH!" "Care to lose the cockiness?" He glared at me,his eyes went from their Golden yellow color to the color of the very sky itself. "You just made the worst mistake of your life!" He faded out,and suddenly Ifrit fell to the ground. Kit followed it was just me and Dax flying back to back.

He faded back into normal sight. "The new Sage of the east wind,and his trusted guardian. How long has it been since I last saw a pair as strong as these?" The wound on his arm seemed to have healed. "Now that those two are out of the way,how about I get down to what I came here for." He lunged at the two of us,he almost seemed to take the very form of the lighting itself. I struck him with the sword. Suddenly I heard a loud bang sound. I looked down,I hadn't taken any damage,but I saw Dax enter a freefall. I dove down after him. Kit was moving again. She caught Dax. But when she did,she had a shocked expression on her face. "BLAKE!!" I landed beside her. There was a large hole in Dax's chest. He had blood flowing from his mouth. His gaze seemed hazy,but he was still there. "Hey boss,I......I don't think.... I'm gonna be coming out of...... this one." "Dax.....You'll be fine,you need to be around for Maori,Dax... please,don't leave me." His eyes turned gray. He stopped breathing. I put my hand over his face and closed his eyes. "I'll get him back for this bud. I promise." I turned towards Luke. "HAHAHAHAHA! I FELLED THE GRANDSON'S GUARD! NOW IT SHOULDN'T BE SO HARD TO FELL THE GRANDSON HIMSELF!" My aura flared to life.

Luke's P.O.V.
He faded from where he was on the ground. "Huh? Where'd he go?" Suddenly I felt a swift,and powerful kick to my back. Hurling me to the ground. Than be for I hit the ground I was hit clean in the stomach by what felt like a blade. "What the hell is happening!?" Suddenly I was launched back towards the sky,and than launched back towards the ground I saw him phase back in for a split second and a large spike came out of the ground. I tried to stop my fall,but I couldn't move my wings. I looked at my back and saw that my wings had been broken. What!? THAT CLEVER BASTARD! I hit the spike headfirst.

Blake's P.O.V.
"Heh I guess that speed training really paid off." I walked over to Kit,with Dax on the ground in front of her. "Blake,I'm so sorry. I know how close you two were,I'm sorry that I couldn't help as much as what I should have." Kit started to cry. "It's not your fault Kit,if anything it's mine for getting you guys involved. But if you leave now your just gonna have a target painted on your back." Suddenly Dax started to glow a deep purple color,and there were two golden lights where his eyes were. Suddenly his body was just gone. "Boss? The hell was that?" "That's what happens when a guardian of my family passes away." I looked to the now blue sky,and hoped that Dax would be alright. I walked home to see Lizzie holding James under her right arm like she was carrying him like a sleeping bag. "Oh hey Blake. What happened,why'd the storm stop?" She looked at me,and James did too,he saw that I had Dax's bracelet. "Dad,did uncle Dax?" I nodded. "I couldn't protect him." James started to cry. Me and Liz took him inside and calmed him down.

"I should've gone with you." "Liz don't say that." "No I should've gone with you to make sure no one died." There was an awkward silence. "So what happened to his body? Did you bury it or cremate it." "Neither actually." "What? Than his body is just sitting on Ifrit's back yard!?" "No he passed in the way all guardians to my family do. By their body and soul going forward into the afterlife in a place called Elysium." "So he died a hero,as well as fought to the last moment." "Yes,and I'm gonna miss him." When Shelby came home we told her what happened she consoled me and James was still distraught with the whole situation. That his Uncle Dax had passed away.
