I opened my eyes to see the ceiling of the garage. I sat up and looked at the float. It was finished though. I could see sun shining in from the opened garage door. I laughed and laid back down. Did I really fall asleep on this trailer? Yeah, I did.
"Good morning."
I looked over and saw Justin lying next to me, just as I remembered last night. He wore a grin on his face and I could not help smiling back at him. I turned on my side to face him. Dare I say he looked even better early in the morning?
"Morning," I said. "We fell asleep on a trailer."
"Honestly, far from the worst sleep I've ever had," said Justin with a grin.
"Why are you grinning like that?" I asked.
"Like what?" asked Justin.
"Like you know something I don't," I said.
"Because I do," said Justin.
"Well, do tell," I said.
Justin shook his head and changed the subject, "I finished the float this morning."
"Justin, tell me what you know," I said as I nudged his shoulder. He rolled back over to lay on his back and looked up at the ceiling.
"When I woke up, we weren't like this," he said.
"Like what?" I asked.
"Well, there wasn't any space between us," he said. He glanced over at me. I felt my cheeks turn red all the sudden.
"Oh," I said.
"Don't," said Justin as he reach out to touch my cheek. "It was the best damn sleep I've had. Maybe we should make a habit of this."
"Falling asleep on trailers?" I asked. I gasped when Justin moved us and suddenly I was on top of him. He was laying on his back again looking up at me. "Justin."
"Hayley Ann," he said with a grin.
"Don't use my middle name," I said. I sighed and leaned my forehead against his. I felt his soft lips against my cheek. I closed my eyes and let out a small sigh.
"I like your middle name," said Justin. "I like everything about you."
I did not think it was possible, but the smile on my face grew. This all seemed too surreal. It was what I had always wanted with Justin. I knew I was not thinking at all. If I had been, I would not have let him even kiss my cheek.
"Justin!"
I opened my eyes and sat up. It wasn't me that spoke. I had just woken up and to my dismay, everything had been just a dream. I first looked over at Justin. He had sat up too and was looking in front of us with wide eyes. I followed his gaze and gasped. Justin's father was standing over us with a stern look in his eyes.
"What the hell are you doing?" asked Mr. Lathrop.
"We just fell asleep," said Justin shaking his head. He stood up and got off the trailer. He ran his hand through his hair and walked over to his backpack. I took the time to stand up and smooth my clothes and hair down. Mr. Lathrop looked beyond angry and I thought I was afraid of him before.
"You fell asleep on my trailer?" asked Mr. Lathrop.
"It's not a big deal, Dad," said Justin. He had his letterman jacket in his hands. He walked over to me and wrapped it around my shoulders. I forced a smile at him. He then stood between his father and me.
"It is a big deal when I'm getting a call from the school that you've missed classes and you didn't come home last night," said Mr. Lathrop. "Your mother's been worried sick."
