"Relax," said Lykos. He had led me outside to his truck and we were on the roads of Bridge Wood. He was looking over at me. "I'm going to take you home and then I'm going to call Justin."
"I would rather you not," I said softly.
Lykos narrowed his eyes, "Why don't you want me to call him?"
I shrugged, "I don't think he'll want to speak with me."
"I am pretty sure he will," Lykos said. "Whatever happened at that stupid high school dance doesn't matter. You know who Justin is and he knows you."
"How do you know Justin?" I asked.
"I think you should ask him that," said Lykos. "Not really my business to tell." He pulled in front of my house and I refrained from asking him how he knew where it was. I had a feeling the answer to anything I asked would be Justin.
I got out of the truck and walked towards my house. I dug into my bag and pulled out the key. Was something bad really happening? What would even happen in Bridge Wood? Nothing ever happened in the little town.
"Okay, I'm going to call Justin," said Lykos as he pulled his phone out of his pocket.
"Is something really happening?" I asked carefully.
"I don't know," said Lykos. "But I'm going to find out. I'll be right out here."
I nodded and walked inside my house. I closed the door behind me. This was crazy. I accepted a ride home from a guy who seemed to think something bad was happening and I didn't know him. Why wouldn't Justin tell me about Lykos if I could trust him? I sighed and walked into my room. I quickly changed out of my dress into leggings and a sweatshirt. I heard something and peeked out the window in my room. I saw Justin's car pull up behind Lykos's truck. Justin got out of the car quickly and went over to Lykos. They both began talking to each other. Lykos seemed a little calmer, but Justin seemed the opposite. He said something and Lykos seemed to take it bad.
I wondered if I should go interrupt them or let them finish. I decided to let them finish. I kept watching through my window. I saw Lykos say something before going back to his truck. Then Justin's eyes landed on my window. I quickly stepped back from it as I heard the truck pull off. Then I shortly heard the opening of my house door and then Justin was shortly standing in the doorway of my bedroom.
"We're leaving," he said.
"What?" I asked as I shook my head.
"We need to get out of town until I know everything is safe," said Justin.
"Justin, you're scaring me," I said. "What's going on?"
"Everything's going to be okay," he said, but I felt like he was assuring himself rather than me. He walked over to my closet and pulled out one of my duffel bags and handed it to me. "Just put some clothes in there and come to my car."
He turned and walked out of my room before I could question him further. I took a deep breath and grabbed a couple of t-shirts from my drawer and tossed a couple of pairs of sweats into the back. I grabbed my clutch bag and tossed it inside the duffel too. I slung the duffel bag over my shoulder and left the house. I locked the door behind myself and walked over to where Justin was waiting by his car. He was typed on his phone quickly. He glanced up at me and opened the passenger door for me. I was honestly afraid to ask what was going on. I got inside the car and put my bag in the back seat. Justin got in the driver's side and we zoomed off. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.
"Where are we going?" I asked quietly.
"To the city," said Justin.
I narrowed my eyes, "Houston?"
