One of my classes were history. Mick was in there with me. I sat by him.

"Hi, we're in the same class!"

He smirked. Mick is so handsome! His blue eyes were mesmerizing.

Our teacher walked in.

"Good afternoon."

"Good afternoon," we said.

"Boys, you're in the sixth form, sit up straight ans say it properly!"

We sat up.

"Good afternoon sir!"

"That's much better, now, we'll get started on our first lesson of the year. Who can tell me what Hammurabi's Code is?"

Mick raised his hand.

"Travis?"

"His rules were very brutal, an eye for an eye...literally."

"Well, that is true. What else?"

I raised mine.

"Dawson, I hope you can be more specific."

"Hammurabi is a king who ruled during the first dynasty of Babylon in Mesopotamia, from 1792 BC to his death in 1750 BC. His code of laws became one of the first deciphered writings in world history. Like Mick said, the rules were brutal, for example, if you steal something your hands will be chopped off as a punishment."

"Very good Dawson!"

I winked at Mick.

"Did you learn this before?"

"Yes sir, I'm a new here as a lower sixth former."

"Well, that's impressive you learn this before."

"Got a head start sir."

"Well outstanding. Moving on. We are going to take some lecture notes."

We took notes as he lectured.

Me and Mick walked out together after class.

"First day wasn't bad."

"Wait, you just wait."

And then Rowntree walked out.

"Here it goes," Mick whispers.

"Well, if it isn't the new boy, Dawson is it?"

"Yes."

"What do you want Rowntree?" Mick asked rudely.

"I want to meet the newbie, we're in the same history class, such a know-it-all. You're scrawny and smart, the only thing that's missing is a pair of specs. A sissy nerd is always getting ahead, and I don't like that. Watch your back Dawson, I'll be watching you."

He walked away. I sighed.

"Well, the Whips don't like me already."

"Don't worry Charlie, I got your back."

He pat me on the shoulder.
