Fairy Tales, legends, tales, stories told through the years. Some true, some false, and some a mix of both, they are told by men to serve a greater purpose, to teach a lesson of heroes and villains. But not all stories end happily, but... perhaps that is for the better. To learn, we must grow as people and rise above our mistakes. If we have the time, of course, the world is running on a finite lifespan, and we should make the most out of it.

Humans are just one example of beings who walk in the world, long have they fought to survive against the monsters who threaten their lives, who tear apart their homes and mercilessly kill all in their path. Luckily, humans aren't alone with help from special companions, they can rise above the monsters. These are known as spirits, beings of pure energy who can't be seen by those with low resonance. With the help of the spirits, men learned to control the energy that gave them life, their mana turned into a physical form called "artes", which they used to protect the ones they loved.

Despite this advantage, the monsters grew stronger and the future is looking bleak.

Part One

Zephyr ran through the trees with Allen right behind him. The two had found themselves lost and had to find their way back home. Zephyr was the more enthusiastic yet careful one between the two. He had long dark brown hair in a low ponytail held by a red band, dark green eyes, and wore a red jacket with white borders over a low collar white shirt with grey borders. He had dark grey pants with black boots and leather straps around his torso and shoulder that held up his sheath. His sheath was unusual, it was a maroon color with a white ribbon on the top and was on his back facing horizontally.

Allen was the more level headed among the two who made most decisions. He had short blonde hair with light green eyes and wore a black shirt with green borders, light green gloves, white pants with matching boots, and around his chest and shoulder were leather straps that held up the sheathe on his back. According to Zephyr, Allen copied his way of wearing the straps. Allen shrugged it off anytime anyone asked and continued whatever conversation he was having before.

The two barely made it home before the sunset; just as Zephyr expected, his father was waiting for him to return home and he said goodbye to Allen as he went inside with his father. He was scolded for going out and playing with Allen; his father didn't like him hanging out with those who weren't nobles. The Carmalon family and the Lumaya family had their differences, but Zephyr and Allen didn't care, they had been friends since they were young and wanted to continue their friendship. Even if their families fought, they went outside and played in the forest.

Zephyr went to his room and saw his sister Kana playing with a toy on his bed. When she saw him, she got up and hugged him. She had the same hair and eye color as Zephyr and wore a white dress with red borders and held a little stuffed dog Zephyr made for her when she was younger. She was a sweet girl who loved her brother and mostly depended on him. After their mother died, Zephyr spent most of his time taking care of his sister as their father dealt with his business.

He patted his sister's head and kissed her on the forehead before she ran off to her room. He smiled and laid down on his bed, he was done for the day and needed some rest. Above his bed was a painting of his family. His mother and father stood at the head of the family while he sat on another chair and his sister sat on their mother's lap. That was the last painting of their mother that they made before she died.

After she died, Zephyr's father became stricter and put rules that confined the two siblings in the house or near the house. He also began to train Zephyr so one day the boy would take over the family business. Which was something Zephyr didn't want to do. He wanted to be free and explore as Allen did. The arguments he and his father rang in his head, they were completely different, and both got on one another's nerves.
