Part One
Sophie watched over Zephyr as he slept in his room at the inn; she was worried about him, to say the least. She had recognized the presence of the woman he was talking to and knew whatever happened next, it wasn't going to be good. Allen knocked on the door and walked in, he along with the others, wanted to know how Zephyr was doing. Sophie explained that he was fine, however, he wasn't what she was just worried about.
She was trained as a knight ever since she was little, and when she was old enough, she went on her first mission. When she returned, she was honored for her courage and determination, but she had discovered things that didn't exactly make her excited for her next mission. She showed Allen the residue she put in a small vial, it was sparkling with little traces of purple dust mixed in. She explained that artes left residue after being cast and sometimes the residue could be traced right back to the user.
The stronger the artes were, the more residue they left behind. The vial Sophie held was glowing brightly, much more it would be if a human cast it. She did some studies when she was in training, it something they didn't do in human schools since the higher-ups didn't see it as important.
While Allen didn't understand the science behind artes, he did know where Sophie was going with her discovery; she was going to find the caster who the arte belonged to. She had met them once before, but never got a chance to know them, and according to her, they were powerful and dangerous. There was also a legend, a story about two siblings who had disappeared before they completed their journey. One was a savior and the other was his sister.
When Allen asked why Sophie was telling him that, she explained that the residue she picked up was similar to that of the siblings, which only meant more trouble for them. If the siblings were alive thousands of years after they disappeared, then it meant they were determined enough to keep their souls grounded to the world, one way or the other.
"What does that mean for Zeph?" Allen asked.
"I don't know just yet," Sophie said. "I was only told stories about the siblings Nereza and Eden when I was young. I know if they want something, they'll do whatever they can to get it, and if that means killing someone, they'll do it."
"If that was Nereza or Eden, what's going to happen?"
"The world could be sent into chaos, just as it did all those years ago."
"What do they need Zeph? He's human like the rest of us."
"I don't know. Hold on, how strong of a caster is Zephyr?"
"Stronger than anyone I've met, but he refuses to use his power since he thinks it's unfair to fight someone who can't do the same. He said his mother used to work under the kingdom's guards and she was one of the strongest casters they had."
"Then I guess it's no wonder why he's so powerful; what about his sister?"
"Kana? She doesn't have any power, at least nothing as he does."
Part Two
"You're completely sure you're fine?" Katherine asked Zephyr.
"I'm sure, it's not like I'm going to die from lack of rest," Zephyr said jokingly to Katherine.
"If you're hurt then you should stay behind," Laura suggested.
"I'm badly not hurt, look, so I passed out, no big deal."
"The fact you don't remember why you passed out or who you talked to is a problem," Sophie said.
"Sophie," Allen stopped her, "just let him be, if he wants to come, he will. Even if we leave him behind, he'll follow us anyways."
