Nightmare

Obsidian's Shards

Obsidian leisurely walked on to the field, albeit fairly disgruntled at the thought of combat. He looked at Nova with obvious disinterest, which Nova couldn't stand. Nova knew that he was lazy. every time that K-9's team had ransacked their apartment, he had just leaned on the doorframe while the others worked. While the others interogated us, he just stood there, silent as a statue. The only reason Nova knew his name was because Sparkman had asked him an opinion on something Evie had asked once.

He hadn't answered then, and he wasn't talking now as he positioned himself into an attack position, as Nova prepared to go on the defensive.

Blacklight shouted "Begin!"

As they both began to circle each other, Nova noticed the ground was heating up so much that she could feel it through her shoes.

As Nova looked around at the ground she saw that the sand was melting into a type of glass. As Nova's feet began to sink into now semi liquid ground Nova ran to the nearby post, and quickly climbed to the top to avoid being trapped in the glass.

As Nova watched she noticed that Obsidian wasn't sinking. He just stood in a perfect circle of sand as the rest of the arena floor melted around him. Nova looked at the ground and saw that it had hardened enough so as to not trap her if she stood on it.

Nova saw it as a ploy to get her down to the ground, where the glass would melt again, a clever trap. As she watched Obsidian, she saw that he knew that she saw through his trap.

He sighed annoyed that it hadn't worked. He then held his hand up, and the sound of breaking class could be heard. Fractures spread from his circle, creating many different sizes of glass shards as weapons.

Nova knew that she was in trouble when they started floating around in the air. She quickly formed a plan of attack, seeing how Obsidian hadn't moved from his circle once.

Nova jumped down to the ground and it was like the glass became magnetised to her, coming closer and closer at increasing speeds. She ran around in a circle letting the glass pick up the pace a bit, before running at Obsidian.

He didn't look surprised and built up a wall of glass shards to defend himself.

Nova smiled, and jumped over the wall. Looking down on the other side she saw him look up as she reached down and touched his exposed ear.

As he collapsed so did his glass and Nova stood triumphant. As the crowd cheered.

That was the day Nova joined the renegades.

And the day her life changed as she joined frost bites team.
