As his father had asked him, Jinyoung turned up at the company in the afternoon. He had not been told for what reason he was called. He had been at his father's company only a couple of times and it always gave him a feeling of unfamiliarity.
Jinyoung did not need to stop by the reception counter as everyone knew that he was their boss's son. He went straight to the fifth floor where his father's office was.
As usual, he did not give a knock and opened the office room door straight away; two people talking inside turned their heads to him at once.
"Come in, Jinyoung," Nanseok called his son.
Jinyoung, for a moment, forgot to move as his eyes fell on the person, who had been talking with his father. Mark Tuan. What was he doing here?
Mark looked at him as well, but there was no surprise in his eyes.
Jinyoung continued his way to his father and stood at the other side of him.
"You both are here now," Nanseok said, "Why I asked you to come is because I want you to get more familiar with the company stuff. First, you need to be introduced to the employees."
Jinyoung could not understand why it was needed all of a sudden, and why Mark was needed here as well.
Nanseok was already calling his secretary and ordered her to have all the employees gathered in the hall.
Later, Nanseok led them out of the room and to the hall, which was at the end of the corridor and was large enough to take a lot of people in. All the employees' eyes fell on them and they whispered to each other.
"Everyone," Nanseok's voice boomed out in the hall, "Thank you for giving your time. I just want you to know my son, here, Park Jinyoung," Nanseok gripped Jinyoung's shoulder, and his other hand reached for Mark's, "And my nephew, Mark Tuan."
A round of applause came afterwards from the staff. But both Mark and Jinyoung were startled by surprise at the word 'nephew'. Nanseok continued to announce that his son and nephew were going to be trained somehow, so that their knowledge about the company, would be increased.
"What's it all about, Dad?" Jinyoung asked Nanseok, when they were heading back for the office, "Why everything so suddenly?"
"It's about time you're well aware of the functions of this company, because one day, it is going to be in your hands."
"Then what's with including someone else aside from me?" Jinyoung questioned, referring to Mark who was with them at the moment.
"Because it is needed. Just follow my words, Jinyoung. There are a lot of things you have no idea of and I'm doing all of this for your future."
Jinyoung hissed under his breath; it was too much that Mark should be given such opportunities as him.
Jinyoung slowed down the car speed as he drove into the yard and towards the car parking.
There was no sign of anyone in the yard but then the sight of an unfamiliar car, which was parked in the yard, caught his attention. It could be his father's guest.
Jinyoung focused back on parking his car at the usual area. When he walked out of the parking area, however, the unfamiliar car called his attention again because now he saw a woman getting into the car and slowly driving away through the yard.
He had never seen her before; for sure, it was not someone from the company. However, he rejected all those unnecessary thoughts and headed back for the house.
That woman could have left his thoughts like nothing at all. But when she was often seen driving out of the yard, most of the times, when he just came back home.
His curiosity about who that woman was, as to be coming to their house too often, was piqued. he did not want to ask his father because she could be someone who was associated with him by work and then asking his father would mean that he was fussing over some small thing. Yet his curiosity did not die down.
At one time, he decided to find this out by himself, just simply asking the woman. She was just approaching her car when he got back from the college. Jinyoung stopped his car a little far from hers and got out to head for her.
"Excuse me," the woman turned to look at him, "You're my Dad's guest? I thought he was still at work."
"No, your father is upstairs in his room."
Jinyoung frowned, "Did you meet him there? How? Why in his room?"
She was hesitant to answer but seeing Jinyoung's accusing eyes, said, "I don't think he wants you to find out about this. At least not from someone else. But if I don't tell you the truth now, you're going to misunderstand me."
"Just tell me the truth," Jinyoung said, impatiently.
"I'm his personal doctor, and he needs me to check his health regularly."
Jinyoung felt his heart beating faster, "Is there any specific reason? I mean, for you to check to check his health regularly? Is he hiding something from me?"
She sighed, "I'm sorry to tell you this. But your father's lungs are getting weak and-"
"Gosh, is it lung cancer again?"
"No, not cancer. It's just chronic bronchitis. It's not as bad as cancer. But I'm worried about his lungs' function. He could become better or worse, depending on his lungs' function. And I don't feel satisfied with it, seeing the results."
Jinyoung felt at a loss of words but then asked, "Why did he hide it from me? Is he keeping all of this to himself?"
"He doesn't want to trouble you with worries. And no, there is someone else who knows all about this. I sometimes find him by your father'side, when I come here."
"Who?"
"He seems to live here. You may know who."
"Mark Tuan!"
"Well, I've told you everything although I've no permission to. Just try to understand your father and tend to him. I'm going."
She did not wait for his response and turning around, got into her car and slowly drove away.
Sadness and anger were battling inside Jinyoung. His father was suffering from a disease and he had had no knowledge of it. And Mark Tuan. What was his involvement here? At least, Mark should have informed him about that.
Jinyoung stormed towards the backyard and to the staff house. Once in front of it, he gave the door a bang and the door was opened after a moment, revealing Mark.
"Why the hell were you hitting my door?"
"I need to talk with you."
"I don't think we have anything special to talk about."
"Why didn't you tell me that my Dad was suffering from bronchitis? You want to be a good boy, caring my Dad, while I was all kept in the dark from truth?"
Mark hissed under his breath, "He doesn't want to tell you and who am I to go against him and then tell you all about that?"
"B-But you could've told me. Even if he does not want me to know."
"Now you know this, don't you? Why're you wasting your time here and telling me this?"
"I won't forgive you for this, Mark Tuan. And you involve in our family affairs to much."
Mark just shrugged and Jinyoung, still seething with anger, turned around and strode towards the house.
