Gomm continues to happily run around. I hope he trips over something.

Another message comes from my dad. "Sry I took long. Dont worry. B back by lunch."

I take a glance at the clock. 10:00.

I don't need these texts to know when my dad'll be returning. There's windows literally everywhere in the house. Except the bathroom, obviously.

When I see a green car with white polkadots (Weird car design, I know. Even just imagining it makes me wanna hurl, to be honest), I'll know my dad's home. I mean, who wouldn't know what their car looks like?

I can't wait for my dad to get home. I can almost imagine him hopping into his car and driving home right this instant.

What I feared just came to life when the breaking news section started up again.

"More no school?" Gomm stops in his tracks and approaches the television again.

"Shhhhh. I'm trying to listen." I say.

BREAKING NEWS
We are here live at the scene of a car crash.

"Car... crash?" Gomm attempts to repeat the news report. Oh wow, Gomm can speak. Big surprise here. Whoaaaa...

The crash was due to speeding, as the car was reported to have gone at speeds of over 70mph.

"Fast means dead," Gomm says.

Here is a shot of the car that has crashed.

A green car with white polkadots.

"Daddy car," Gomm says.

"Yeah, I know." I reply.

"Is Daddy..."

"No, definitely not. He's fine, right?"

The car had done serious damage to the tree it had crashed into. The driver was sent to the hospital once people had heard of what happened, but he was dead-on-arrival.

Stay tuned for more live breaking news.

I'm crying.

Dad is dead.

I look back at the pictures we had of him. The most striking one: the picture when me and Gomm went to work with him.

He looked so cool in that coat of his. Who knew being a famous scientist was such a cool job?
