Gruelling.

Such an old school world but oh how comfartably it fit with the situation I was in.

"YOU'RE DRUNK! YOU CAME IN HERE AT THREE IN THE AFTERNOON DRUNK!"

I pushed away my dinner, no longer in the mood to digest the bitter yells of Mom as a side to the food she'd prepped.

"Oh shut it. You could care less." Liz responded with a slurred voice.

Mom was growing more angry and I decided it was time to intervene. I pushed past her and held onto my elder sister, leading her up the stairs as mom continued to curse.

It wasnt until we reached her room that she broke down, trembling.

"I'm sorry. I don't want to hurt her I'm sorry." She sobbed.

She would forget it all by the next day. She would have it all well buried in her mind.

It wasn't until my sister had drunkenly fallen asleep that I made my way downstairs, slightly disappointed to find my mother watching as I descended.

"How can she do this? Look what she's doing to herself!" Mom exclaimed.

I wasn't in the mood for this. But from where I stood, I didn't see much choice but to listen.

"All I ask is that she keeps her nose clean. Behaves. Respects her parents - she refuses! It's as if she wants to end up an uncontrollable mess!"

"She's just a little grieved, mom. Just like you and everyone else." I tried. I might as well have yelled that i killed a man though, because her response wasn't as calm as I had liked it to be.

"What are you taking her side for! I'm your mother! Her mother! I only want what's best but you kids seem to hate me for it! What do I do? Tell me what I do because at this point I don't know. At all. Perhaps you would all be happy if I were gone. Dead."

"No one said that." I reminded.

"No you implied."

"How? Mom you can't go around taking words out of our mouths. We don't want anyone else dead. Most certainly not you."

Mom looked up at me, her eyes welling up.

"I miss him." She sobbed. I looked away, clearing my selfish thoughts before stepping forward. She allowed me to embrace her and sit her down on the sofa as she let out the tears of a grieving mother.

And then it was over. She wiped them away and went up to her room - where she'd hide away until dad got back.

It's been a while - I've been getting writers block in waves and it really stunts my writing, so please accept my sincerest apologies.

Hopefully I can write more consistently from here on out.

Also let me know what ya'll think - inspire me with comments. I would really appreciate it!

Have a great day!
