Vivian Bakely's Playlist Song #1
Let Me Love You- Wafia(Jada's POV)
Taking in a deep breath, I stared at myself in the mirror. My uniform was what you would have expected from a cafe. Black pants with a white button-up, and an apron over it with my nametag attached. The service business wasn't too much of a hassle for me, and thankfully it was a good time to get better tips.
The winter in a place like this is just horrible. It's not the same like my old hometown, but it will have to do. It's a richer economy, and plus there are a ton of more people.
As I was on my way, a light beep went off in my back pocket. Pulling it out, it was a text from Vivian.
Wait, how'd she get my number?
Vivian- So I guess you didn't come to practice today. Well, that's alright. I'll see you soon, tho! ^^
My eyes stared at the message for a good minute. She's not actually serious about coming to my work. This woman has to have other plans tonight. I bit the bottom of my lip, still trying to process why she wants to be my friend.
"Whatever. I'm going to be late." I sighed, shoving my phone back into my pocket.
During work hours, my co-workers always did the normal routine of greeting everyone that came in for their shift. I would give a short greeting before going straight to work. Most of us didn't know each other personally, but it's shocking on how well they get along. When you work with different kinds of people, it gets frustrating when some don't get along with each other.
"Hey, how was your day, Jada?" One of my co-workers, Keith, approached me while I was waiting to serve. He was one of the people that would try and speak to me, but I didn't give too much to offer. Scratching the back of his black hair, he grinned sheepishly. "Nothing today, huh?"
"Don't you have a table to look after?" My brown eyes shifted to him. "I'm sure that I'm not your first priority."
Keith's eyes brightened as I responded. Shit, shouldn't have done that. "Of course, but they've been taken care of already. Those people are pretty nice. I think you would have enjoyed people like them." He pointed at the small group of people.
It was just a group of guys that Keith was talking about. Unfortunately for me, it wasn't just any group of guys. Alex was with them, so their practice must have been over as well. This leads to Vivian coming here soon.
"Only you would like it when a group of guys come in here." I rolled my eyes, pulling out my phone to ignore the poor soul.
"I get along with dudes, Jada." Sometimes, I think that Keith is gay, but I won't say anything about it. If he comes out, then he comes out.My ears perked up at the sound of a light jingle at the entrance. Vivian and a couple of other girls walked in with their famous preppy smile. "Looks like that's going to be your group today. Good luck." Keith grinned wildly before heading back to his group to check on them.
I bit the insides of my cheeks. 'So, she was serious.' Vivian and I made eye contact from across the room. The ginger smiled at the sight of me, and I let out a sigh as I moved from my spot to greet the group.
"Welcome. How large is the group?" I asked, glancing at everyone in the crowd before meeting Vivian's eyes.
"Just four people."
My eyes moved from hers to the other girls. They were taller than me, making my head hurt at the sight. The girls were smiling down at me, and I couldn't tell if they recognized me or not. I knew that both basketball teams were pretty cocky, so I wouldn't be surprised if they tried anything.
