In 1985, life was complicated for Shane Walsh. Twenty-one, newly enrolled in the police academy and in his partying years the man managed to make a manner of choices that would effect him for the rest of his life. In early February of 1985 Shane Walsh and Rick Grimes were sent as Cadets to a police training seminar in Athens, Georgia for some extra credit and training both desperate to move up and head into the field. It was on their last night in the town, fresh from their last seminar of the night, that Shane had an idea. Always the partier, he proposed that as a last hurrah they head into the town despite the rules and find a nice bar and celebrate a trip success.

It was at this bar that Shane met local small time country singer Pamela Ramos, a pretty Latina with enough energy and talent to make it big if only she was willing to leave behind the town she called home. Several songs, a couple drinks and a wild night of choices neither would ever be able to take back Shane headed off to continue his cop journey, Pamela off to start working on getting a record deal with things began to change. Pamela, whilst on stage in a small town called Macon, she discovered she was pregnant with help of a young Mrs. Dixon.

Pamela; accompanied by Mrs Dixon, her three year old son and her nine year old son; attended a doctors appointment that would change her life. She was indeed pregnant, a consequence of unprotected drunken sex with a wannabe cop nearly a month prior. With a promise of updates Pamela headed on home to Athens. With a call to the new father, Pamela made a choice. She was having her child no matter the consequences that would come for her. In late August, after the check for her rent bounced and the new of a little girl Pamela moved to Atlanta, closer to Shane and her parents who offered to help.

With the news that he was having a daughter, Shane begged Pamela to either keep his name off the birth certificate or put her up for adoption. Knowing that she couldn't handle either option, Pamela contacted Rick and his girlfriend Lori desperate for help. Convince Shane to help with their daughter and they could have anything they wanted in return. It was at the end of November, the beginning of December that Shane conceded and began to actually help Pamela with the preparations for the child.

On December 6th, 1985 Charletta Hope Ramos-Walsh was born. Seven pounds and nine ounces at seven sixteen am. Pamela Ramos only got to hold her daughter once before passing away nearly an hour later. For the next fourteen years Shane struggled with raising a daughter he never wanted, until little Carl Grimes was born. An agreement was put in place, as long as Letta helped with her new 'cousin' and got all her school work done the fourteen year old could stay with Lori until the two cops days resumed.
