"Ok what kind of trick is this Chloe?" I asked in a rather agitated voice.
"I didn't do anything I swear!" Chloe defends herself.
The planchette moves again.

H A H A

A loud thud outside the door is heard and a small childish giggle fills the silence on the other side in the hallway. The room falls very cold at this point almost immediately. And now I'm starting to think that maybe it's real.

"One of us has to go out there." I said looking around the room but struggling to really make out faces from the room being nearly pitch black besides the small twinge of light on the table from the candle. Somehow the ouija board was perfectly clear as if giving off its own illumination.
"This is not what I signed up for." Kayla said aggravated while holding her cellphone up in the air. "Damnit what happened to the signal?"
We all looked at our cellphones and realized that no one had signal anymore.
Lexi stepped forward from the shadows and spoke up. "None of us have a way of communicating with each other if we walk out of this room alone so I say we all grab our shit and make it out of this building together as a group." No one disagreed. So we got our things and prepared to exit. The plan being to get out of the building quick as possible.
It seemed as though everyone had the same thought right before we headed out the door because all of us looked at the ouija board and decided it could stay here with whatever the hell resides in this place.

"Guys! We didn't say Goodbye!" Chloe exclaimed as I had just touched the door handle. I groaned and sat my bag on the floor.
"Ok let's hurry up and do it. I don't need this shit following me home."
We sit back at the table, just Chloe and I with our fingers on the planchette. Chloe looks up around the room and says: "Thank you for showing us your presence, but we really must go now. Ok Bye!" And we moved the planchette to the middle where the word Goodbye was displayed on the board. We both stood up and grabbed our things.
"Ok let's go." I rushed.

The planchette suddenly flew off the board, across the room, and into the wall with enough force it would have seriously hurt anyone standing in its path.

"Oh fuck this." Lexi and Kayla both said in unison and opened the door.

*Giggles*

The childish giggle was louder as we entered the hallway and began descending down the tattered and split stairs. The last step breaking completely causing Zack to fall flat on the concrete. All 6'1 of him sprawled in complete shame and embarrassment.
"Fuck I think I hurt my ankle" he said rolling to his back and moaning as he tried to move it around. "It's fine, I'll be fine let's just get out of here." He started to stand up, barely able to put pressure on his ankle without yelping in pain. The giggle became louder right at this point and now sounded like it was in the darkness behind us. Jordan and Chloe both took a side of Zach as support. "Guys my bag." Zack said pointing to the tattered backpack next to the broken step.
"I got it." Said Jordan leaving his support post for a moment and reaching down for the bag.

The giggle turned into a burst of hysteric laughing as Jordan was suddenly pulled under the broken step and breaking the two above it as his body disappeared beneath the staircase and he screamed feverishly for help from whatever invisible force had just yanked him out of sight. We all stood frozen not knowing what to do. Jordan's cries became very faint.
*Crack* A faint snapping noise was heard. And nothing from Jordan.
"Jordan!" We all yelled. But no reply.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck! What was that? You know what, I don't even care, let's get the fuck out of here!" Lexi said in between hyperventilating.
"We can't just leave Jordan like that!" Chloe demanded.
"I don't know if you noticed or not but Jordan isn't replying because he was sucked under a stair case to god knows where and reality is that thing just killed him. Now if you wanna die too then be my guest and go meet your demise but I'm out!" And with that Lexi began walking down the hallway for the exit. No cares were given if we followed or not. And I have to say I agreed with her so I followed and reluctantly so did everyone else.

The hallway was dark and seemed like it had tripled in length from when we came in. Maybe because we had to slow down for Zack hobbling along. It was demonically quiet now. No giggles or odd events. It was unnerving. Finally we could see the glowing exit sign up ahead and even Zack picked up the pace a little bit.
Lexi ran ahead and slammed against the door but the door didn't open. The sound of the release bar clicked repeatedly as Lexi frantically kept pushing and releasing it. Then she banged on the door with her fists in frustration. "What the fuck!!??" She yelled.
Of course the door was 'magically' stuck now. Whatever was in here definitely did not want us leaving. The only chance we had was to go out in the main paths of the mall and bust through one of the glass doors. So we turned around and opened the side door of the hallway.

It was even creepier as we walked out into the open space. Half opened store gates that were rusted filled the hallway. An old memory of a water fountain was now overgrown with weeds and shrubbery. Cracked floor tiles and hanging ceiling lights decorated every few feet of the stretch. All of the main exits that were visible were boarded up and chains hung with thick locks through the handles.
"Well we are not leaving through a main exit I guess." I commented staring at the cracked up boarding nailed stiffly in place.
"You've got to be kidding me. What a great idea Chloe." Kayla snarked.
"Alright let's think guys. There has to be emergency exits everywhere. A lot of these gates are open and the theater is just on the other side." I suggested plans.

We all looked at each other and started heading to the first open gate. My phone alerted me to low battery and suddenly all of our phones were pinging with the same alerts. What could have made everyone's battery drain that quickly? And all at the same time.

The giggles from before suddenly echoed the hallways and an Arctic like chill came over us all causing us to shiver and goose bumps to appear. Something was definitely going on here. And even Chloe didn't seem to want to know what it was at this point.

"Let's get out of here." Chloe said dipping under the gate of the old Rainbow clothing store and we all followed closely behind.
