"I was trying to be sneaky!"
"I'm a writer. I saw this coming from a mile away."
"You're ruining my plans."
"That is, technically, a superhero's job."
"Come on! What's more relaxing than setting something on fire?"
"A lot of things!"
"Have you ever tried setting things on fire?"
"No, and frankly, I don't think I ever will."
"You're no fun."
"So I've been told."
"I'm bored...so, um, I'll see you later?"
"No!"
"That's not very nice."
"No, I mean that you're not going anywhere until the cops arrive."
"I haven't done anything yet!"
"Well-We're arresting you for what you are going to do."
"Where's the justice in that!?"
"Who said anything about justice?"
"You're a superhero! Justice is in your job description."
"Uh, yeah, for the people that you are endangering."
"It's not like I'd actually kill them!"
"You pushed a guy off a cliff!"
"We wanted to go cliff diving."
"There was no water at the bottom!"
"Not my fault, he picked the cliff."
"So, what, you're pleading innocent?"
"Yes."
"Not going to happen. You're a supervillain."
"That's a terrible thing to say."
"I hate you."
"Why? I'm lovely."
"Ugg. I know!"
"What?"
"Can't you just be evil. It would make my job a lot easier."
"You...you want me to be a villain?"
"That's not what I meant. Sometimes it's just so frustrating. You are either good or evil. Everyone has to pick a side."

"Do you honestly believe that a person is defined by their abilities to fit between the unobtainable parameters of good and evil?"

"You've got to stop doing that!"
"Doing what?"
"Saying things that make me want to kiss you!"

Well that's a plot twist. Sorry, I'm a little late, but now I'm here to narrate the story.

"What?" The word fell stunningly from the man's mouth.
"What?" The hero repeated, unable to conjure a better response.
"Did you just say-"
"No!" She interrupted. "Definitely not."
"Yes you did. Please explain."
"Fine." She gave in, feeling intense pressure behind her eyes. "I..."
"What!?"
"I know who you are." A suffocating silence filled the enclosed space. The supervillain leaned his back against the wall before sliding down in defeat.

"How?" The word escaped his strangled throat.

"I-I saw you transform." The heroine stuttered.

"How long have you known."

"About a week now."

"A week? But...why haven't you told anyone."

"I didn't want to hurt you."

"That's a sudden change of attitude." They both laughed, glad to be back into lighter conversation.

"I know you're a good person-" She began.

"So we're back to the good and evil thing? I thought I told you-" He was interrupted.

"Let me finish. I know you're a good person, some days I think you're even a phenomenal one, so I'm not going to turn you in."

"Didn't you already call the police force."

"No, I just didn't want you to leave." The heroine sat down against the wall, next to her companion. A long bout of silence seemed to slow the pace of life. Her eyes began to feel heavy.

"Take off the mask?" The villain's voice filled her thoughts.

"Not yet." She responded sleepily. Finally, her eyes closed and her head drooped slowly onto his shoulder. Without the energy to maintain her disguise, her superhero persona began to fade.

"AHHH!" The villain quickly pushed her away, letting her drop to the floor with a loud thud, as he ran to the corner.

"Don't look, don't look, don't look!" He repeated to himself as he lightly hit his head against the wall.

A small grunt echoed throughout the room.

"You awake?"

"Yeah."

"Does that mean you're back in disguise?" He asked cautiously.

"Oh, just one second." A heavenly light showered the room. The villain turned around.

"Why did you say that?"

"Say what?" Confusion covered her face.

"Do you actually believe that I'm a good person?" His eyebrows drew together accenting a painful hope in his eyes.

"Of course. That's why I was so surprised! One of the nicest people I know, a super villain, can you imagine!?" Her nose scrunched in disbelief.

"What? So we know each other?"

"Yeah, you could say that. You could most definitely say that." She giggled, still in a delirious state from exhaustion.

"What does that mean?"

"What do you think it means?" She slipped  back into her snappy personality. A smile overtook the villain's face.

"Take off the mask?" He pleaded hopefully, happiness dancing among the undertones.

"Patience is a virtue."

"When did you mistake me for being a virtuous person?"

"All in good time." She booped his nose and flew away. With a quick look around the room, the villain followed her in quick pursuit.

"Wait! I have questions! You can't just leave!"  His voice slowly faded as they flew farther from the scene.
