Just Because...

Just because I have anxiety,
Just because I have depression,
Just because I have OCD,
You hate me because of this.

Just because I am shorter,
Just because I am blind,
Just because I am paralysed,
You think I'm not capable of anything.

Just because I have laryngitis,
Just because I have dementia,
Just because I have glossophobia,
You believe I am not clever.

Just because I have dyslexia,
Just because I have down syndrome,
Just because I have PTSD,
Doesn't mean I can't graduate or get a degree.

Just because I don't react well to certain things,
Just because I can't cope with small changes,
Just because I can't see or hear as well as everyone else,
You don't get to tease me or upset me.

Just because I look or act slightly different to you doesn't mean you can stare.
Just because I may not seem capable doesn't mean I'm not.
Just because I was born like this doesn't mean you should bully.

Just because I have a disability doesn't mean I am not clever.
Just because I have a disability doesn't mean I cannot graduate.
Just because I have a disability doesn't mean I cannot succeed.

Just because I have disability doesn't mean you should treat me any different.
Just because I have a disability doesn't mean I am not human.

Just because I feel I am independent doesn't mean I always am.
Doesn't mean I don't need care.
Doesn't mean I don't need love.
(No one on this Earth is completely independent.)
