When Duty Calls (RWBY X WW2)

Chapter 15: Defending the town part 1

A/N: If any of you know what the title means I think you get the idea...

After Team JNPR, Captain Miller and his squad found Private Ryan they went back to the Village Ryan and a few other airborne soldiers were guarding. Miller then told Ryan about how all of his brothers had died and Ryan didn't take it well. Then Ryan was even more unhappy when Miller told him they were sent to bring him home. But no matter what Miller told Ryan he refused to leave and abandon the others, because he believed they all had the right to go home just like him. So then Captain Miller, Sargent Horvath sat down and then talked it over with Lieutenant Jaune to see what they would do now since Ryan wont leave.

"Well if he won't leave with us what do we do now?" Jaune asked as he walked with the 2 Rangers.

"I don't know." Miller replied. "what do you 2 think?"

"You don't want to know what I think." Horvath said.

"No Mike I do." Miller replied.

"Well...Part of me thinks the kid's right. What's he done to deserve this?" Horvath stated. "If he wants to stay here fine, lets leave him and go home."

"Yeah." Miller agreed quietly.

"But another part of me thinks...what if by some miracle we stay and actually make it out of here?" Horvath asked. "Some day we might look back on this and decide that saving private Ryan was the one decent thing we were able to pull out of this god-awful sh**ty mess."

"That was what I was thinking also Mike." Jaune said not wanting to be left out. "If we stayed and helped defend the bridge that means you all have the right to go home." The 2 Rangers then looked at Jaune as if he was right. Then the group started making a plan to defend the place from the Germans. (I'm not gonna describe the planning part cause if you guys have seen Saving Private Ryan you get the idea.)  

The Plan was to lure the Germans down the center of the main road of the town and then blow their tracks off to stop and surround them. Then if the Germans pushed them back far enough to the Bridge the last guy alive would blow up the bridge after a 30 seconds delayed on the fuse. The group hopped it wouldn't come to that but they didn't know if it would happen, so they hopped for the best. After everything was in place the soldiers took a minute to take a rest and few of them listened to a record player that played French music.

Jaune and Pyrrha sat down next to each other to rest while Nora and Ren decided to go look around the bombed out town for anything. Jaune himself secretly had a crush on Pyrrha but he just couldn't build up his confidence to tell her otherwise, because he felt like it wasn't the time. Jaune knew that Pyrrha like him and he liked her too, but he more or less loved her. But then Jaune decided that since they were in this world it was now or never. 

"Pyrrha, there's something I want to tell you." Jaune said as he turned to look at her.

"Yes, what is it Jaune?" Pyrrha asked.

"Well...how do I say this?" Jaune muttered. "I'm in love with you Pyrrha Nikos." The look on Pyrrha's face went from confused to shocked at what Jaune had Just told her.

"You l-love me?" Pyrrha said with a blush on her face. "Why now of all times to say it to me?"

"Well, I figured since were in this world I would rather do it now then later if something bad happened." He had just said that he was in love with her and she couldn't believe that he had just admitted it. "And I've been thinking...after this war is over, maybe we could go out together sometime?"

"Y-yes, I would love that Jaune!" Pyrrha said. "I think that would be a splendid Idea for when we go to the United states."

"Really? I'm glad you want to." Jaune said with a smile. "I think it would be quite the experience." However as the 2 finished their conversation there was a very faint sound of tracks squeaking in the distance. Jaune then stood up with Pyrrha doing the same they then grabbed their weapons and headed over to where Miller and Ryan were looking up at the church tower watching Private Jackson's hand signals to find out what was coming.

"Enemy from the east." Miller said as he read the hand signals. "He sees...Tiger tanks 2 of them, Panzer tanks 2 of them, infantry...50 plus change." Jaune and Pyrrha then looked at each other as if a big battle was going to take place. Then Nora and Ren soon came up behind Jaune and Pyrrha as they had heard the tanks as well. "Disperse you know what to do!" Team JNPR then took positions to defend the town from the German forces coming their way. Then the rabbit took off in order to lure the Germans into the trap.

'I have to make sure me and my team get through this.' Jaune thought to himself. 'I'm not gonna let anyone die on me.'
