Heading to Jason's after a couple of days of leaving him be, I sit in the living area with Mrs McCall as Jason showers.
"Have you heard anything from the police?" I ask softly.
"They've put it down to it being a random animal attack." She gives me a slightly forced smile.
"I know this may not be the right time, but did you know there's a pack in town?" I ask curiously, my voice slightly hushed to Jason doesn't hear.
Mrs McCall seems a little surprised. "No, I had idea. Do you know who?" She asks hopefully.
"Not exactly, Mrs McCall...Alexander told me that the pack own the land Nathan was killed on, I don't think they'll be of any help." I give an apologetic smile for getting her hopes up.
"Did Alexander say anything else?" She wonders.
"Only that Nathan might have trespassed, but packs have never killed for such a little thing, they wouldn't want the attention." I say.
Mrs McCall nods, frowning slightly in thought. I guess I'm not the only one that finds it strange that Alexander would say that. Packs don't settle very often, they have to be strong, and have the numbers to be able to defend their land. Meaning this mystery pack is dangerous if they're settled and willing to kill.
"Mrs McCall, what do you think of my parents? And please, don't lie to me." I ask softly, hoping she'll give me an answer that I want.
"I've known them a long time, I suppose they're quite abrupt and protective of their children. I mean...I wouldn't say they treat you fairly, or that they aren't a little overbearing." She gives a small grin, not saying too much.
She's told me all I need to hear, I trust the McCall's, I just needed to make sure that they wouldn't go to my parents and tell them anything.
"Mrs McCall I need to ask you something, and the only reason I'm coming to you with this is because you and your family are the only ones I trust." I say softly, shifting closer to her.
"Is something wrong?" She worries, like a mother does for people she loves.
I nod my head. "Do you know anything about Severus Blossom?" I ask quietly.
Her eyes widen as the name passes my lips, like she never expected it to ever come out of my mouth.
"I've heard rumours, but nothing personal." She responds sincerely.
"I know that you know I'm a daemphur, Mrs McCall. I have nothing against what you are, i know you're good people. I just...I really need help, and you're the only person I can trust right now." I whisper, my eyes tearing up slightly.
Asking for help is hard, it's something I've never had to do. I know I can't figure this out on my own, and I don't think Severus thinks much of me right now.
Her mouth is open, her eyes slightly wide with fright. Immediately I grab her hand, before she attacks me or bolts out of the house like I'm about to murder her.
"You've known me over ten years, Mrs McCall. If I wanted to hurt you or your family, I would have done so a very long time ago." I say, hoping that my words will ease her worry.
Wolves aren't very trusting towards daemphurs, mostly because we're not bound to and secret code or Alpha, we're free. We are just like humans, with a slight advantage of we're trained, which I'm not. I know defence, but only the basics. My family didn't want me involved with any kind of violence, and now I see why. They've done everything they can to stop me from ever turning, knowing about the wolf activates it I guess, but I doubt I'll turn.
