"Oh look. It's the nerd!"
Luna looked over at Nina as she cowered over herself, slouching lower and hugging her books tighter.
"Tell me, Nerd, how does it feel being the world's biggest loser." Max walks by, sneering at Nina before finding a way to smack down Nina's books successfully. The force caused Nina to fall down with the books.
Letting out a cruel chuckle, the blonde towers over her while she's still on the ground. Luna pushes him away before picking up her friend as well as her books. There was no use in her getting up since she only found herself back on the ground. Max had the decency to knock her down once again.
"Look at her," he says in a mocking tone. "She can't even get up by herself."
Lifting her up again, Luna whispers to her, "Just ignore him. If anything happens, don't worry, I've got your back."
Nina simply nodded before attempting to hurry out of the hallway. That was until she was stopped by the bully. "Not so fast Nerd." The troubled face that her expressions had changed into was enough for him to pull a big, stupid smirk.
"I didn't come here just to gawk on and on about the loser you are. That would take too long to list and I really don't have the time. I mean, even your boyfriend fled to another country because he couldn't stand you."
"He is on vacation with his parents, Idiot," Nina mumbles under her breath, hoping that he hadn't heard. Unfortunately, he did.
The idiot's face was starting to show a big smug appearance that Nina watched in bewilderment. "Oh ho ho. Didn't imagine that the nerd had the potential to call me off like that. Now, how about I speed things up a bit since you seem to want to get out of here in such a hurry." He began cracking his knuckles dramatically. Max seemed to be full on character of the stereotypical bully in most movies. But he didn't get very far.
"Why don't you and your tiny brain go someplace else? If you can manage that, of course." A voice had spoken and Max's eyes wandered over to a surprised Luna. The words had just come out of her upon seeing the situation her friend was about to endure. Max suddenly shifts his body towards Luna's direction and walk right up to her. He was so close, she could practically feel his rotten breath in her face.
"Say that again." People had begun surrounding them, taking out their phones to record an instance that doesn't really occur much in the school- someone actually standing up to the bully.
A rush of confidence fills her and allows her to speak. "You heard me. Why don't you shut your fatty mouth and take your tiny brain someplace else where you don't have to use as many brain cells. Now that I think about it, I wonder if there is a brain in all that mass of what you call a head." She then knocks on his head a few times. "I don't think it's there. So I advise you not to pick on the person you're jealous of because you won't get a brain like that."
She smirks at him before turning away from him and joining Nina. However, she doesn't get very far before she feels her body being grabbed and slammed against the lockers. Hard. A muscular arm holds her up, her legs dangling mere centimeters off the floor. She can feel the air leaving her lungs quickly and no way for more to get back in.
"With the way your face is changing colors, I am to assume that you can't breathe and that you want me to release you." Max had adopted the same smirk Luna had.
She has to practically force the very little air she has when she speaks. "Yes." Her body falls with a thud and an entire coughing spasm takes control. Luna could barely get up at first due to the jolting pain she felt in her back.
"Aww, look at that. She didn't realize that I'm always the one to have the last word. Defending your little friend came at no use because now look at where you are now. Next time, just mind your own business."
"Wait!" The words came out before she could think. Struggling to get up, she used the handle of the lockers to get up. Someone in the surrounding group, which was now enlarging by the second, began laughing at the situation that Luna was in. "Whatever plans you had for Nina, just do them on me. I don't want her stuck in your non-stop bullying."
Max just shrugs. "Whatever you say." Then came an unexpected blow to her face. The growing crowd all "ooooh"-ed. A stinging pain filled her face and her brain stopped working for a few seconds. She brought her finger to her lips and found that it, in fact, was bleeding. After the realization of what had happened settled in, Max was long gone and Nina was standing next to her with her arm around Luna's shoulder.
"Luna are you okay? Here, let me take you to the nurse." She asks with worry evident in her voice.
"I'm fine, don't worry."
She lied.
"We'll be late for class anyway so let's get going."
"Luna, you are clearly not okay. Please, just go to the nurse and then tell me if it actually is fine. Because by the look of your bruise, you are in really bad pain." She was but was Luna really going to admit it.
"Nina, please. I'm fine. Can we just get to class?" Although it was a question, she didn't wait for her answer and dragged her anyway.

Concentrating in class was a real challenge because her hand kept wandering to her face. With every passing minute, her excruciating pain was only building up. Keeping a low profile was the only way to prevent questions, but the news had already spread around the school about a particular girl that took a blow to her face. It would be a matter of time before they all found out that that girl was Luna herself.
It got even worse when she was on her to biology class. After checking her reflection a few times, she had noticed that there was a large bruise below her mouth from the left side. One side of her lip was even slightly swollen. From the lack of icing her bruise, it had turned a nasty shade of purple.
She had found it useful to let her hair loose out of its ponytail and covering her face with the jungle of hair she had. The only problem was, she wasn't able to see the person that happened to be right in front of her (probably on purpose) before she bumped into them. The books in her hands had fallen but the person she had bumped into kept a firm grip on her arms to keep her from falling.
"Wow, Chica Delivery. Here I am saving you again." Matteo chuckles at his joke. "I like your new hairstyle. It really helps you fall for guys." Luna doesn't even dare to look up at her boyfriend and simply nods. She wasn't going to concern him with her problems. Of course, Matteo's grin turns to a concerned frown.
"Hey, what's wrong love?" He places a hand on her shoulder and she immediately flinches at his touch. This only makes him even more worried.
"Nothing-nothing's wrong. Don't worry about it," she mumbles through her hair and frees herself from his grip before grabbing her books from the floor and attempting to run off towards her biology class.
Unfortunately, Matteo grabs a hold of her waist and turns her around. He pulled her close, closer than what was necessary.
"Come on, Chica Delivery. I know you and something is definitely up." As he says this, he gently tilts her face with his fingers under her chin. Luna avoids his gaze but knows that he will question about the bruise.
"Wait, are the girl that everyone's talking about? The one that got punched in the face by Max?"
"N-no, of course not."
"Then why is there a large bruise on your face. If I'm not mistaken, it wasn't there this morning."
"Uhh yeah. That." She struggles to come up with an excuse. "Uhh, so you see, I was bored in class and you know all the dumb things I do when I'm bored, right? So I, um, drew on my hand with a marker and forgot that it was still on my hand when I went to rest my chin on my hand. And that's when I realized that, oh, I got marker on my face. And it resembles a bruise so much, am I right? And I didn't have time to wash it off, so yeah."
Matteo wasn't amused. Not even the slightest bit. Slowly, he rubbed his thumb over the spot while examining it to see if it really was just marker. She winced at even the slightest touch on her bruise.
"If it really is marker, why are you wincing?"
Thankfully, the bell rung, saving her from having to answer him.
"This conversation isn't over," he says before letting her go.
