We got in the car after running from gun shots and Maliyahs hair was everywhere. She looked in the mirror and her and Zaire laughed as she fixed her hair. "The streets of Savannah crazy but nun like Chicago". Maliyah said pulling off from the party parking lot. "We've been doing this all our life like it's a professional sport". Z said. "I'm telling you". Maliyah said heading to her house on the Savannah Hills. "Where's your mama"? Z asked. "Well my mama got me my own place. I got my own job now tooo so hey but I always give ma at least 40 a week you know me". Maliyah told him. "So what you tryna do for you 18th birthday"? Maliyah asked. "I mean I'm gone be in school back in Chicago and you gone be in school down here so you know". He said.
"I think you should move down here this summer". Maliyah said. "I don't know. I got brothers and all that in Chicago". Z said. "I get it". Maliyah said looking at him as he examined her. The feelings were there but neither had the urge to say some.
It was 2 in the morning.. and they were sitting in the car parked in Maliyahs drive way. When Maliyahs mama called. "Where you at? You know they had a shooting at that party"? "Where Z at". She said sounding more concerned and worried. "Mama we both at my house and we're good. I'll call you later I love you". Maliyah said. "Okay I love you too". She said calming down.
"Can I tell you a story"? Z said. "Yeah". Maliyah said turning towards him. "When I was 8. I had four siblings. Yeah. It was five of us. It was Jaylen, Jamal ,Jaheem, Zayla, and me. Yep. I was the youngest and I hated it.
Plot line is messed up but you know go with the flow. about his siblings ages but whatever.
It was a Saturday morning when Ma had told Jaylen to take us to the court. I mean Jaylen and Jaheem always played basketball. It was everybody fun place it was always fun there. So it was just us there for the time being. So a car rolled up. Three gang members... A bullet going straight to Zayla. But Jaheem got in front of it. He was able to protect her from that one but not from the other two that hit her. And both my brother and sister died from that. Now it's just Jaylen , me and Jamal. And mama really want us to come together as brother brothers cause we not at that point yet. but now everything so different. But we promised our mama we gone get that brotherly love bond". Z said. Maliyah wiped her eyes on that story. "I guess. That's why Chicago is gone be forever stuck with me". Zaire told her. "I mean next time I bring you here I'll bring your brothers". Maliyah said. That really hit her hard and she never had siblings. She was all on her own until she met Z. Then we both went in the house and that had me thinking all night.
The next morning Maliyah was in the kitchen... and Z was sitting in the living watching basketball. Till Maliyah vision went blurry and she got dizzy. She was feeling light headed and before she could tell Zaire she fainted.
