"There's only a couple more months left, Les! Be happy. We won't be able to do this ever again," Cara chirped, applying one last coat of red lipstick to her lips before looking at me with a big smile, making her teeth look insanely white.

"Oh, we won't be able to relive parties that have drugs and alcohol in them at college? I thought that was the whole point?" I retorted sarcastically, running my fingers through my soft curls that Cara styled to perfection as always.

"This is our last back to school party, and you're going whether you like it or not missy."

"Something bad always happens at parties though."

"Not always."

"Most of the time."

"Okay, well whatever, you're going. End of discussion," she cleared.

Cara was a sucker for parties, and me, well I was a homebody to put it blatantly, and Cara knew exactly how I felt about them. I like being at home in my warm, cozy bed where nothing bad happens, not a care or worry in the world.

Parties just weren't for me. I never liked the smell, the dancing, or should I say grinding, and a fight always broke out whether it be over a girl or someone trash talking another person. Something bad always happened.

A honk sounded just outside my bedroom window and Cara said, "Just on time! Austin's here!" She dragged me downstairs as I attempted to pull the black dress down that Cara suggested I wear. It was beautiful with a lace neck and sleeves, stopping an inch or two above my knees, but it was clearly not for me, and the heels that came with it weren't making this process any easier.

"How do you walk in these?" I mumbled, Cara not hearing me over the loud clicking noises our heels were making.

"WHOO! Lookin' gorgeous as always!" Austin whistled, sticking his head out the sunroof as Cara continuously dragged me with every step she took, causing me to slightly stumble down the steps.

"Shotgun!" I exclaimed before she could, tumbling passed her as fast I could without falling.

"Hey!" she pouted, flopping her arms down by her sides as I shoved myself in the front seat. Huffing, she got in the back, and we eventually made our way to the big party that happens every year before school started. It was always hosted by the same person, Ryder Hall. He was known for throwing the best parties and somehow never got caught by the police.

We arrived sooner than I hoped and made our way inside the huge two story house, a wave of alcohol and drugs hitting me right in the face as we entered the crowded room, making me want to run in the opposite direction. The pounding of loud bass bass music filled my ears and people dancing and making out invaded my line of vision as Cara dispersed into the crowd, leaving Austin and I to stand in the middle of the room.

Austin leaned down so I could hear him more clearly. "Will you be okay if I talk to some people?"

I nodded and gave him a reassuring smile. "Yea, I'll be in the kitchen."

I watched him walk over to a corner where three other girls stood and noticed their flirty smiles and giggles when he started making conversation, being the obvious flirt he always was. I shook my head with a knowing smile and navigated my way to the kitchen, sighing in relief when little people were in there. I grabbed a red solo cup and filled it with water. I had a feeling I was going to be the designated driver tonight.

"LESLEY! THERE'S MY GIRL!" someone yelled, and I closed my eyes in annoyance at the person's voice, drunkenness clear in their slurred speech.

A heavy arm was thrown over my shoulder as I stayed turned away from the person, loud breathing present in my ear as a whiff of alcohol floated around them. I turned around, pressing myself further against the marble counter, familiar blonde hair and blue eyes catching my attention.
