Landon POV
It had been a couple of hours since Vee asked me out, currently I was sitting on the edge of Rae's bed reading a book.
"Why are you smiling like that?" I put my book down seeing Rae eyeing me curiously.
"Like what?" I asked.
"Like an idiot." She responded.
I smiled closing my book, "Vee asked me on a date."
She raised her eyebrows and smiled, "She's very outgoing...she'll be good for you."
I scoffed, "It's just a date."
She scoffed back, "Oh yeah sure."
I tapped her leg with the book, "Go to sleep." I stood up and walked to the couch in the corner of the room and settled in. She was right, this would be good for me, I've only ever had one girlfriend and saying it didn't end well would be a huge understatement. My eyelids felt heavy and I closed them, soon drifting off to sleep.
*~*
I woke up to a sudden movement in the room, when my eyes adjusted I saw Rae standing over Nolan while he slept. Something felt off though, something that told me whoever was standing over there wasn't my sister, not really. "Who are you?" I asked quietly. She rolled her neck around making a pop sounds and hummed, then she turned around leaning her head to the side looking me up and down before saying, "Well you really haven't changed that much."
"We know each other?" I questioned.
She remained still and rigid, "I guess you could say that."
She walked around, running her fingers over furniture and picture frames. She looked at Nolan and then back at me, "He seems polite and...sweet," she popped the T, "you know Landon you're pretty smart I'm surprised you haven't figured this whole situation out yet." She was in front of me now.
"Leave Rae alone, you could've taken any of us. Why her?" I questioned.
She smiled devilishly, "All questions will be answered soon enough...but until then," she leaned in close and whispered in my ear, "you'll just have to keep guessing."
"Goodbye for now." Her eyes rolled back and she started to fall but I caught her before she hit the ground. I lay her in my lap, "Rae?" I said shaking her lightly, she remained unconscious so I picked her up and put her back on the bed, wrapping the cannula around her ears.
The next morning Uncle Peter was examining her vitals, I could tell Rae was anxious to get back to school, being that she wanted to keep her status as valedictorian.
"Am I clear doctor?" She asked irritated.
Uncle Peter sighed, "Yes."
"Perfect."
Nolan had already grabbed her things. "Thanks." She smiled.
"Anytime." Nolan said pecking her on the cheek. She pulled her backpack on and stood, she winced.
"What?"
"Feels heavier," She responded.
I told them that I would meet them downstairs and then turned to Peter and Isaac, "It happened again last night."
"Was there anything different?" Uncle Peter questioned.
I nodded, "She talked to me. She knew exactly who I was."
"But we don't know who she is." Isaac added.
"Yeah and asking did nothing," I explained, "the way she looked at me it was so emotionless and blank. Like a robot almost.
"We need to figure this out fast," Uncle Peter said.
"She say anything else?"
"No."
