I am so sorry. I did not mean to go so long without posting. This year has just been something else. But I am so thankful to every person who reads and votes for my story ❤ I've already started working on the next part. I just didn't want to wait too much longer to post some more.
It was so easy to forget about the world when he was with me.
But as we pulled up to the park, reality set in. I felt guilty. He leaned in to kiss me, but I dodged him. Confusion was written all over his face. "What's wrong? Did I do something?" He said.
"No... I mean yes... and no." I shook my head
I looked at him and I could tell he still wasn't following. "You really don't know?"
"Don't know what?"
"Nothing, I gotta go-" I started to unbuckle my seatbelt.
"Wait." I could feel his hand on my shoulder. "Look at me."
I sighed and turned to face him. "Seriously, you can tell me."
I wanted to tell him so badly, but I didn't know what he would do if he found out. "For real, it's nothing." I smiled. "I shouldn't have said anything at all."
He got quiet for a moment. "Alright, yeah I understand."
We said our goodbyes and I got out of his car. I waited for him to drive away before heading home.
That night I laid awake in bed, watching the steady movements of the cieling fan. I watched as it mimicked the thoughts spinning around in my head. It felt like forever before I finally drifted off to sleep.
The next day I walked into the kitchen and saw Mari pouring herself a bowl of cereal.
"Good morning." She said cheerily.
"Good morning." I said back. I grabbed myself a bowl of cereal too and sat down next to her.
"What are you doing today?" She said.
"Working, you?"
"Same here." She said.
Okay, so maybe things aren't gonna be weird between us. I told myself as I took a bite.
"So... last night was crazy huh?" She said.
I looked at her, "You saw him too?"
She looked down, "Yeah, I did."
"I'm surprised you're even talking to me."
She looked at me and said, "Pos, duh. You're practically my sister. I'd never stop talking to you over something as simple as who you love."
"Whoa, calm down. I never said all that." I laughed.
"Yeah, but you do like him. I can tell."
"I do."
"And he likes you too, I could see it all over his face from the first time he saw you."
"Really?"
"Really." She said.
Later on that day. I was at work stocking our new arrivals, when I heard a guy say, "Excuse me, where are your controllers?"
I turned around and there was Nico. He smiled as he said, "I didn't know you worked at Game World. Shit, I would have came to the mall way more often.*
"I didn't think you even liked video games." I said. I turned back around and tried to look busy by continuing to stock the shelves.
"What guy doesn't like video games?" He said.
"You'd be surprised." I looked at his face and.. it was so hard to be mad at this vato eh. He's fine as hell. I just said, "True... well what console do you have?"
"Xbox One, you?"
"I was actually asking you so I could help you find a controller." I smirked.
"Oh." He smiled.
We started walking towards the back wall. "I have a PlayStation though." I said.
"PlayStation sucks."
"What? No, Xbox sucks."
"Not even." He said
I stopped and looked at him with one eye brow raised, "Yes, even."
"Prove it." He said.
I folded my arms, "How?"
"Let's play tonight."
"I don't know about that." I started walking towards the register so I could check him out.
"What's wrong, you scared to lose or what?"
I smirked, "Ora pues, let's do it. Don't say I didn't warn you though."
"I'll see you tonight then. I'll text you my address." As he headed towards the exit, he turned around and said, "Laters, hermosa."
"Laters vato."
