We waited around my car the next day, glad the week was over. We usually met up in the parking lot across from the gas station. S and I came together and Zachary was just heading up the street now. I hadn't seen Alex since he stormed off yesterday afternoon. I hadn't seen Elizabeth since yesterday either...Normally she called me. Not yesterday.
I heard the roar of a motorcycle, a chick in tight jeans and a black leather jacket screeched to a stop beside us. I looked at the guys, "know her?" I questioned. They just tipped their heads for me to look. No way. "Seriously, how did you afford this!?" I checked out the bike; it was nice, real nice.
Elizabeth smiled "My dad got it for me actually. I got my licence and I guess he was feeling it." I wasn't exactly sure how to respond to that, he wasn't really the type of guy. S was into it though, he had always wanted a motorcycle. "Want to ride?" She bit her lip throwing him her helmet.
"No way!" S threw on the helmet and started it up. He was gone, whipping past Zachary wind blowing his jacket back like a cape. I watched Ella smile, a real smile. Zachary came and jumped at me, we wrestled around until he had me on the ground giving me fake punches. I was laughing , as he helped me up I wrapped him in a head lock and he immediately took out my legs. Down on the ground I was again.
Alex ran up and wrapped Elizabeth in a very unexpected hug. She just melted herself into him and nuzzled her face into his chest. Me and Zachary stood in silence, after yesterday we didn't dare make any jokes or even just say hi we simply stood and waited making small talk with each other. I could see the pain on her face that wasn't there when she first arrived. I knew Alex was mad the way he held her it was like he refused to let go. "Please?" I could hear him say. "Just tonight one night let me stay with you?" We had all heard this conversation before, he hated watching her go home sometimes he stood outside her house for what seemed like hours before leaving. She hated him asking to stay over. "You can come to my house, just stay with me" he was pleading with her now. I never quite understood why he wanted it so bad. Sometimes it bothered me, like what did he want? Did he expect her to jump into bed with him every night? She wasn't just some object he could use. But the tone of his voice suggested I better just stay out of it.
"Alex, I'm going to class tonight then I'm going home. That's how it always is." She ended that conversation when S zoomed back with her motorcycle. "Like it?" She looked at Alex but he was disgusted and glared at her before going into the store across the way.
"I love this! It rides so smooth! The speed is amazing. Elizabeth this is just insane..." He went on for about ten minutes and I watched her smile get bigger. "The paint job, the handles ,the mirrors even the tires! It has everything." You could see how excited he was just to have got to ride it.
"It's yours"
She was joking right? Who just gives away a motorcycle brand new? No way. I looked at Zachary wide eyed, and he didn't have anything to say. I almost laughed when I looked at him because his face was literally one big confusion ball. S stood mouth hanging open. He sighed and stuck his hands in the air. "Why would you joke like that girl?" His utter disappointment came out when he crossed his arms and started pouting.
"No seriously, I want you to have it. I'm going to buy my own, this one suits your look better. Hence the paint job" She wasn't joking. She pointed at the bike, and she was right. It was definitely his style, everything he had always imagined. She threw him back the keys. "Take it man" She gave a light smile.
S just stood there with the keys in his hands for a few minutes. I guess he was deciding how to react. He nodded a few times as if he was going over scenarios in his mind. "For sure?" He questioned squinting his eyes. She nodded. His big ol' -oh sorry. His big OLD smile returned. -Really need to watch my grammar or should I write it like I remember it? I don't know. Anyways.- He swished his helmet on and hopped onto his brand new motorcycle. Shooting her a parting glance and he ripped down the road.
